Anyone have any 'inside' info on the Alfa 4C?

What a rubbish review. To end suggesting Alfa bring out a manual, V6 version is to completely miss the point of the car. Typical Top Gear tosh.
It's also cheaper than a Cayman so can be forgiven some of its foibles, especially as its a 'gen 1' car - Alfa will no doubt have left room for future tweaks to the gearbox, engine, sound etc.
Honestly, with an ever increasing war against fun yet fast cars, you'd think that the press would rejoice at the 4C, especially if the trickle down effect can be harnessed - who wouldn't want a Guilietta or Mito with some of the 4C's shared tech in a couple of years?!
Indeed, the point with Clarkson et al is that they have to be extreme about everything because the characters they have built for themselves. They cannot "like" a car it has to be either total rubbish or on a different planet. Nice balanced review here:-

As predicted, the low revving turbo engine is the weakest point, and those lights (which I actually like).
Someone needs to drop a Busso or tuned Twin Spark in there but link it to the TCT & DNAR
Can't wait for Harris to call it has he sees it

The review was overwhelmingly positive. TG don't yearn (the way I read the article) for a V6 or a manual box in this car. They want a solution to lag and a poor gear change - V6 & manual are one way to solve those problems
to suggest that as a gen 1 car those faults are forgivable and alfa have left room for tweaks to future models is shocking. Acceptable tweaks in that scenario are to spring rates, brake feel, ride, headlights. But basic stuff like very poor lag or very poor gear changes on a production model is not acceptable (though alfa aren't alone)
If the other reviews come to the same conclusion about these issues it will be a great shame

However if the 'character' loving topgear mag dosent like it, I can imagine it will get a mauling from proper mags.
Seems like alfa haven't really done their best, again.
The 1750 TBi engine is the weakest point. Low revving, not exactly nice sounding. Kind of A N Other engine with a barry exhaust.
The Scirocco R's 2.0 TSi engine is a much nicer unit. Revs past 7k rpm, sounds brilliant. Their DSG in it is epic too.
The good thing about it is more power is easy to get out of it. The bad thing is the TCT is right near its limits.

Does it? Based on one magazine review you've extrapolated that conclusion Trust me I would LOVE to be proven wrong, but with TopGear mag loving everything Italian and with 'character' if they have been negative it dosent look good for the 4c.
But I hope I am wrong.

I want a 4c in black. They look amazing on the config.
I too wish to have a drive, but the internet is being less than helpful...
