Thanks both for the info. Like the sound of the AHM option, will definitely look into that once I've got the car - now to decide on spec!
Remember that over 3500rpm you get the full exhaust in Dynamic anyway, so you may decide you don't need to modify the exhaust. I haven't.

Sounds like a good excuse to drive the car properly 😉

Some of the best bit's are lugging it a big in a higher gear and hearing a bit of a baritone bark from 2500rpm and as boost starts to build, then backing off.

Having just had the exhaust bypass just done with a remote with “always on/always off” options, I rather wish I’d manually disconnected the vacuum pipes. On mine at least, the bypass reverts to the closed position each time you start the car and possibly does the same with the annoying auto-stop/start feature (first button I press after starting the car so will check again). It’s not extremely loud with the valves open, but the exhaust in Race mode is a far more befitting growl for such a monster.

Me neither, I was convinced I would want the full exhaust in Dynamic mode, but way prefer the effect of the switch at 3k and can find the full exhaust in race mode a bit contrived and boom-y at lower revs. The exhaust note is probably the one thing that I still think wistfully about the C63s over.

Mine are manually open all the time. AHM did say they could programme to default to always open when I asked about their controller.

I think it has settled a tiny bit but still looks higher than my last one, especially on the front. I've read on another forum that the front springs on later models are a different part number so maybe all new ones ride higher.
It's still only done 650miles, if it doesn't settle anymore I think I'll be fitting AHM lowering springs that drop it 20mm lower than standard.

That's quite something if they've jacked the Quad up a few mm on later models. Wonder how it affects handling. It is a little low for UK roads I'd agree, but still not good reason to raise the ride height from what it was.

That's a bit st if they have changed the appearance of the vehicle. The arch gap already caught my attention.

Mine height wise (March 17 car) has been just right I'd say.

It's relatively low, but not so low it's been a real issue.

I drive down farm tracks and all sorts so can't be all that bad.

I have bottomed out the splitter very slightly on very undulating back roads a couple of times, but thats all.

This was mine this morning.... Can't say there is a huge amount of difference? Maybe a tiny bit at the front?

Do you have some sort of chromed wrap on that?

Hello all,

I've been running my Giulia here in Germany for over six months and 8000km now. Overall, I think it's fantastic, but it does have a few niggles the dealer has been unable to help with.

1. At low speeds the brakes often squeal terribly. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it happens, it's far from subtle... To date, I've been unable to figure out when it will or won't happen.

2. I have a manual gearbox, and both first and second gear can be somewhat tricky to get into. I realise the UK only has the auto, but was hoping you may have come across something on another forum.

3. On full lock the front tyres rub in the arches. The dealer insists "they all do that". Oddly, it's currently on winter tyres (Michelin PA4 in original sizes) and has stopped rubbing.

Any suggestions on any of the above?

Many thanks in advance.

Brake squeal is usually lack of grease on the back of the pads. Your dealer would have to strip them out to check.

No idea about the notchy gear selection.

Tyre skip is well documented and a result of the steering geometry.

1. Could be glazed pads, if so, it'll soon go with a bit of normal use. Could be worn pads, but unlikely at 8000km. Could be an errant clip (or stone/similar) between the pad & disc, again unlikely. Could be the pads needing the backs greased - take them out (or get them taken out) and refitted with greased backs.

2. Heard that before. The manual box is not a great application. Get the synchromesh checked?

3. It's the tyres skipping, exacerbated by the steering geometry. They are not rubbing the arches. Corsas skip badly, worse when cold, worse when worn. I've just had new corsas fitted and it's all but disappeared unless below freezing. Prior to getting them fitted, it was crazily loud and got passers by commenting. People who have fitted non-corsas have said skippy disappears. As you have found on Winter tyres.

Thanks for the swift and helpful replies.

They've greased the brakes before, but I guess I'll ask them to do it again. Will also ask them to check the synchromesh.

And I suppose I'll simply learn to ignore the tyres.

Have you tried a few heavy braking applications to clear the glazing off?
