AHM can switch off stop/start permanently now if you really want it off.

Interesting, they're good for remapping as well so maybe one day when I'm feeling brave.smile I believe Adie is on his second QF so knows a fair bit about them.

Sounds to me like Alfa is suffering from a reputation problem due to much older models.

A bit like I’m often asked how many times my TVR breaks down. The answer is one breakdown in 16 years of ownership.

I’ll take a good look at this car but I’m not changing until early next year so no hurry.
Some of the earlier QFs did have an issue.

The first two I drove both ended up with engine management faults, going back early and on the back of a trailer. I think they've all had an update now and seem much more robust. Certainly, I'm giving one back this morning (why I popped in here) and it's handled everything I've thrown at it over the last week.

I'm not an owner and doubt I'm going to buy one but I was on this thread last year (with obligatory custard pic) with my first impressions. I'm now on number 4, with about 7 weeks in total in QFs (day to day with a bit of weekend track work thrown in) and drive pretty much all of it's competitors too, in a similar manner.

To answer your earlier question, yes the infotainment is a bit crap when compared to pretty much any of it's competitors. Nav is basic (but functional) and resolution is poor.... I always seem to have to turn it on too, maybe an owner could say if that's a setting (where you have to start the infotainment when you start car)? Sound quality through it is OK though and it's laid out with a bit of common sense.

I don't really think anyone would look at a QF for it's infotainment but I'd rank it worse than the usual band of C63, M4, RS4/5, probably even the KIA Stinger. I'd hold it on par with something like an RCF, even that has an edge in quality, it's just backward to navigate with that daft mouse pointer Lexus use.

Rest assured though, drive a QF and you'll never even notice it. It is by far the best of the bunch to drive.

It always amuses me when people are interested to in infotainment systems in a car like the QF. It is totally and utterly a drivers car, once you drive one you really won’t care about anything else. & for completeness, it is more comfortable than its competitors & the infotainment is perfectly adequate.

If you decide to buy an M3/4, C63, RS4/5 because of its infotainment, you should stick to Uber! biggrin

You'll find yourself taking the long way round anyway so the sat nav is pretty irrelevant (it got me across Europe and back no problem though so it can't be bad).

Appreciating the fact that this topic will mostly be populated by QF owners/potential owners, and I agree that it's a more focused drivers car, it really does depend on the individual.

For someone commuting every day, then infotainment matters and it's not like it's a trackday special. It's still a family saloon that will be used for a number of roles.

You may find that amusing but like many others I would be using this as my every day driver so yes I do want a decent infotainment system. It’s a part of the overall package but clearly not important to you.

What do you mean by decent though?
The sat nav works, the stereo works (in fact the standard stereo sounds pretty good to me).

I delivered a Demo QF to Cheshire earlier this week (and collected another Fiat-group car). Wasn't you, was it? smile

I currently run a BMW 540 with Harmon Kardon sound system. I’m not expecting the same standard but looking forward to trying the Alfa.

I’m out of the country for the next few weeks, will book a test drive when I get back.

The infotainment is simple and effective, far from the last word in everything, but I think what most people overlook until they have driven one is that the rest if the car is just so good that it's not an issue.

I use Waze on my phone in addition sometimes on a long journey for updates, but that would probably be the same in another car, i.e I would still use it occasionally.

If anyone is interested in one of these my local dealer (Alexanders Teesside) has a Pearl white with less than 500 miles on it (was their demo) with over £8000 off it's price - bit of a bargain.

I couldn't quite stretch that far, so had to make do with a 'Veloce' . . .

Anyone cross shopped this Vs an M3 Comp Pack and RS5?

Why did you pick the Alfa?

Have you driven the QF? If you have then you'll know.

Not the RS5, but did compare back-to-back with M3, C63 & Ghibli S. They are all great cars, really great, the QV is just alive though, makes the others feel disconnected. And slow.

Yeah. I was a BM guy. Got offered an amazing deal on an outgoing M3 CP. Drove it and realised the Alfa was just too special. Paid a lot more but every time I get in it, I remember why I made that choice.
Not interested in the 4wd Audi offerings or the Merc interior. Purely personal preference with this regard.
The Alfa is something special. Until you spend some time in one, it's hard to get across.

These cars just ooze road presence.

Saturday just gone I saw a lovely red one in Richmond (Middx) and the Saturday before I saw a blue one going over Lambeth Bridge. They are just spectacular. Still rare but the amount of people looking at them goes to show how special they are.

Spotted a mat bronze QV this weekend, looking at the online config tool this one must've been wrapped

Man, what a car, looks properly mean, imagine going round a track and seeing one of those come up behind.
