Has anyone here sampled a manual example? I'm considering one of these but I just can't face an auto. I spend a fair bit of time in Europe so LHD isn't an issue anyway.
I drove a manual LHD car at one of the Millbrook launch events. The gearbox wasn't very slick, the gearknob was about the size of a football (like early "new" Minis), and of course it "only" has 6 speeds.

The auto suits this car beautifully.

The reviews so far suggest the AT8 transmission is superior to the MT6

Most definitely drive the auto. My wife doesn't like autos but even she likes this one.
Plus you don't get the flat out upshift exhaust bangs with a manual! Worth it just for that (you'll know what I mean when you try one in Dynamic or Race).
It is an absolutely brilliant gearbox. Forget any other auto you may have driven before. It's in a different world.

10,000 miles passed today! This is an immense car, that I enjoy every day (even n the snow & ice). Having come from the ‘normal’ Jaguar, Porsche, Audi, BMW track record over the past 20 years, I was sceptical about how good this car would really be - but I love trying something different & my Qv is brilliant, faultless and totally epic & to echo others the auto gearbox is most definitely the one to have biggrin

Indeed - even very experienced motor journalists/racing drivers confuse it with a DSG/Dual Clutch manual when driving it.

First kid on the way very soon. Seriously considering swapping the F-Type R for one of these. Don't suppose anyone has made the jump from an F-Type?

There's a lad on the Facebook page who's doing just that.

Has anyone else had people constantly flashing when lights are on dipped beam?

I've had a few cars like this in the past, but sometimes it feels like every other person wants to complain and I have to flash them back to prove I'm on dipped beam.

Yesterday one person in front even stopped to let me past (I wasn't driving close at all) and then started flashing me, so I had to flash back.

Can't see any way of adjusting the dipped beam height..... Presume the lights are self levelling....

They do sit very high.... Everyone else the same??

For example the lights touch the top of hedge height 5 car lengths or so away...

Yes, I had that on a particularly undulating stretch of road (which makes it worse). Almost every car flashed me. I think it's mostly because the lights are so bright combined with slightly high lights.
My car had it's first service on Tuesday this week so I mentioned it. When I picked it up they said the lights were within spec but at the top of the range so the tech adjusted them to be at the bottom of the range. They seem a lot better now and will hopefully solve the issue.
Take it to a dealer and ask them to adjust the height. Not sure you can do it yourself.

I had the same, took it into the dealer and they adjusted while I waited and valeted the car as well. No flashes anymore and lighting is still as good.

The GFV improved in the autumn I think and shows better than the M3 by a grand or two. I can't remember off hand what my deal was (ordered Dec '16) but I know the car will be worth more as the GFV was rather low at the time. My final payment is £20k on the nose if that helps.

Come again? It's the exact same auto box as used by Jaguar, Land Rover, Aston Martin, Maserati...

That was specifically aimed at the person who seemed to be suggesting he'd either not driven an auto or at least not for a long time.

Also, I'm sure I read somewhere that the gearbox had been tweaked specifically for the Alfa, particularly for speed of changes. The one in the Quadrifoglio is definitely different to the non-Quad box too, even though they are both the ZF8HP. So they're not all the same.

It's a standard ZF 8 speed box but running the same software as the Ferrari 599 if I remember correctly.

Anyone else noticed that the number of used vehicles for sale is slowly reducing? I only really watch the market on AT but from 35 cars in early December it's now down to 25. I can't see prices dropping if the market stays like this. It makes me think that a new car could be the best option.
