Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio - Anyone Ordering One
Discussion
Someone else said recently on the Alfa Owner forum that they were looking for a new car in the system already (as opposed to ordering to their spec) but there was next to nothing available. Sounds good to me as an existing owner! Will help residuals (although hopefully keeping long term so not too bothered really).
Hi,
In one of lives 1st world problems situations im luckily moving house and getting married. As part of this I am needing to free up some money which means the gutting sale of my 981 Spyder.
As well as this my fiances parents live in North Wales and North Yorks respectively - so something more capable of munching miles is needed from Kent.
I love Alfas (have a 147 GTA track car) so the Guilia is my first choice.
I drove a LHD car Millbrook which i thought felt cumbersome however have since driven a UK car on the road which was nothing short of a revelation.
So long story short, any key watch outs and does it fill that all things for all times job I hope?
I have also driven an F80 Comp Pack and found it dissapointing. Not yet tried a C63S.
Thanks in advance

They are already at £50k and up though. If you don't mind a low mileage one owner car there is a significant saving to be had. Next year or two will be telling to see if they hold value well. So far it's not bad at all tbh
Yea I wouldnt be buying new. Compared to any other super saloon they hold miles better value. If we can get away from value (god this is like a depressing GT3 thread) are they as good long term to drive as everyone says?
Thanks

Yes, they are fantastic. I've had mine since march and it's been a dream. The slightest niggle voiced by a magazine or CEL published by an owner on a public forum will create negative hype based purely on the fact it's an Alfa. If you can get past that then you'll see it's an absolute marvel.
You can track it and see how bloody amazing it is as a sports car. Or, motorway muncher it all the way past 40mpg on a long run. It's comfortable beyond that of a 5 series, it's cheap to run compared to any of its competitors and it looks fking awesome.
Buy one and enjoy!

I agree. Done 10,000 miles in mine now since 1st April, including around 2,000 miles from Kent to Italy and back in the summer with wife, 2 kids (aged 8 and 12) plus 2 weeks worth of luggage. Still managed a quick blast at 175mph on the autobahn but it will also do the school run and you can get 40+mpg on a steady motorway cruise in comfort.
It really is phenomenal. Absolutely love it every time I get in it.

Come again? It's the exact same auto box as used by Jaguar, Land Rover, Aston Martin, Maserati...
That was specifically aimed at the person who seemed to be suggesting he'd either not driven an auto or at least not for a long time. Also, I'm sure I read somewhere that the gearbox had been tweaked specifically for the Alfa, particularly for speed of changes. The one in the Quadrifoglio is definitely different to the non-Quad box too, even though they are both the ZF8HP. So they're not all the same.

5 months/6500 miles in mine. Ride is a tiny bit harsh in the rear in dynamic (even with soft dampers), but as a motorway cruiser its faultless, as a family hack it's close to perfect, and a balls-out sports saloon it's unparalleled. If we can get away from value (god this is like a depressing GT3 thread) are they as good long term to drive as everyone says?

Niggles? Boot is a little small. Range resorts to '--' below about 30 miles (and the one time I let the fuel level drop very low, the 'check engine' light came on and the car went into a limp mode - immediately resolved when I filled up) and the alarm is a little over sensitive.
In short, easily the best family car I have ever owned and probably the best outright car I've ever owned.
11 months, 11,500 miles. It's a sheer delight with hardly anything that mildly disappoints. As mentioned the alarm is a bit over-paranoid (I mentioned this to Alfa UK before the software update, they said this was one of the things changed and it seems exactly the same) and the boot is a little small. I can put up with this because of everything else being so great. And the gearbox is wonderful.

That was me. Yes there are very few cars immediately available and supply is being carefully managed. This is having a positive impact on values, certainly in reference to BMW M3/4.
17 plate M4, listed at 72k, discounted to £57k, current trade value £44k. All down to oversupply.

Thanks all
Crux is either Guilia or Cayman R + Audi A1 / Golf etc.
The Cayman R is a truly wonderful road car however I worry what use id get out of it.
The Alfa is probably the right car for me.
I've done the two car thing before, I spent 90% of my time in both cars wishing I was in the other one. Depends if the 10% is worth it.Crux is either Guilia or Cayman R + Audi A1 / Golf etc.
