My Recorded Delivery letter to dealer requesting return of build slot deposit has gone unanswered so a second letter will be sent tomorrow giving them 7 working days to refund to my account or legal proceedings will commence - terrible customer service and I will never consider them for any future purchase
Mangos then?

That’s poor service to not even respond. If they are close enough an annoyed customer in the showroom on a Saturday morning is never good for sales

At this stage it would be wrong of me to say which dealer it is

Would it?

There may be a few people in similar positions, with deposits at the same dealer.

I have a deposit with Thames. I have to say that they have always responded quickly to any query - haven’t always had the answers I need (such as a build date) but I feel it isn’t
necessarily all Thames’ fault at this stage. Allegedly orders are with the factory and they are waiting to hear back.

I’m certainly getting to the point of considering requesting a refund of deposit though...

Dare I ask, how many months does it take to place an order , the factory I understand are taking orders so if that’s correct something doesn’t stack. I suggest those with these deals have a chat with another dealer asking if they can order a new 4c , if the answer is yes then certain dealers are pulling your manly bits .

Hi all

First post

Firstly thankyou all on this forum and specifically this thread which meant I secured one of the Thames lease deals of £250 per month.

I've just had a voicemail from them saying that the order has been confirmed and that the confirmed build slot is week 22 I.e. Mid may!!

This compares to the order form that said estimated delivery at late December. Thames said that now the build slot is in the system it is likely to come forward.

I must say I'm torn as waiting until May, and realistically another few weeks for delivery is a hell of a long time given that will be one year between order and delivery!! I'm going to ring thames on Monday to ask what the likelihood of the build date moving forward is.

Good to hear someone getting their car , let’s hope a few more follow and my Cynicism in previous posts is unfounded.

Re Alfa and build slots , it’s a tadge random and your dealer will do his best I’m sure but it’s in the hands of the factory so could move . Cars are delivered singularly so once built it waits for a truck to bring it over so if built mid may I would expect delivery early June

BUT it will be worth the wait !!!!!

4cs becoming a common site on the roads around here in Derby, saw a white one today then a 1/2 hour later a red 50th Spider (same as mine)! I was in my Giulietta not the 4c though!

Wow I'm amazed those £250 deals are coming through you would be doing well to get an MX5 for that! Waiting until May is a good thing as you will hopefully have some nicer weather to drive it in!

I got the same phone call - build slot in May but likely to move closer. Just trying to decide whether to extend my current lease or buy a cheap car to take me through to what is likely going to be a moving target date.

Could you let me know the make up of this deal? Deposit, term, mileage etc

Well if anyone is looking to cancel their order on the £250 a month deal let me know as I am still looking for a good deal but happy to wait for a car. I am not sure if it's possible to change over the person on a PCH but I'd be happy to speak to Thames to see what the options are

Lots of commentary on service level from Alfa dealers, but this is just part of the charm of dealing with Alfa Romeo. If you think buying one is a struggle, wait until you want a niggle sorted!

I think sadly it’s general across all makes , all have good and bad , I’ve never had any real issues with the 2 Alfa dealers I’ve used but like you have heard some horror stories elsewhere .

Regarding build dates, production was stopped for a short while due to an "oversight" of having too many produced. I know around thirty came to the UK over the last couple of months that cleared the glut, so I would imagine production on fresh cars will be starting again soon

The latest I had was mid-October when told that they'd been slotted for May but were likely to move closer. I haven't tried to contact them since this. What's the latest you've heard?

Yeah same for me, week 22 I think they said for a build week, plus whatever for shipping and prep.

I did ask also about whether I could add any options but was told it was too late.

Just a case of sit and wait I think! If it turns up, then good news! If not... then I have saved some money haha
