Get the small plate. That’s what I did with mine and the only issue I had was whilst I was parked up at a football match. Nipped back to the car to get something and some officers who were walking past decided to have a polite chap about the plate.

I never bothered changing it, was never pulled up over it and it looks considerably nicer than the full size plate.

I had the small one on the front as supplied by Chris Vivara (?) - I'd had the car 3 weeks and got followed by police car for about 45 minutes in hideous pre-Xmas traffic. Ended up with a £100 ticket.
Do you have any photos of the small front plates you could post? Were they supplied by the dealer?

If you are being quoted 9 months, presume you are getting the revised 2019 car?

Talk of many of the foibles of the current car being sorted and a new engine?

Could be epic if they get this right.
No mate, mine took 9 months to arrive after ordering in march last year. In any case, I don't think we'll see the revised model for some time yet.

I've had mine just over 3 months now, I specifically asked the dealer not to fit a plate.

I've had a few looks from the police, but not been stopped yet. It's inevitable that it will happen at some point but the car just doesn't look right with a plate of any size on the front!! Perhaps I'll change my mind when i get a £100 fine!

Blurred the reg out but you get the idea. It was laughably small but looked spot on to me. Supplied by the dealer, no cost option with a full size plate in the boot in the event you were pulled over.

No / small plate really does look better. I wonder if they would be ok with it on final inspection / collection?

On another note, has anyone recently renewed insurance on their 4C? My current quotes are nearly double what they were when I checked in Nov / Dec. I know they rise every year, but to double seems excessive!

Thanks. Looks great, car and plate! I assume though the small plate didn't have the dealer's name, post code, or a BS mark on it?

The 4C defo looks way better with no plate on the front.

The offset plates, big or small, lack symmetry.

I took over the lease from Giblet, so I am referring to the exact same car with the exact same plate.

On the Saturday immediately before Xmas I noticed a panda car (not a traffic car) as I was leaving Waitrose at Handy Cross. As I proceeded towards Marlow Hill, he ended up immediately behind me. Traffic was absolutely hideous. He stayed behind me all the way down Marlow Hill, which took about 20 minutes. I then turned left past the firestation towards M&S. It took another 20 minutes to get to the next round about - he stayed behind me all the way. I then turned right at the next roundabout and headed towards Morrisons - that took another 15 minutes. He eventually pulled me over at the turnoff to Morrisons - after following me for almost an hour.

There was no attitude test to fail - he was going to give me a ticket.

Apologies to anyone who is unfamiliar with these roads / locations - I just wanted to give some context as to how determined this particular chap was to give me a ticket.

st I’d completely forgotten your username so didn’t realise it was you!

Sorry to hear that. Seems West Yorkshire’s finest are more lenient. My commute sees me drive near their HQ so plenty of cars on patrol in the area and I was never pulled. I guess I got lucky.

Have you fitted the full size plate over the small plate?

7k miles so far with number plate wedged into the bottom of the dash/window slot on the passenger side. No issues. But then most of my miles are night really.

Do Alfa not offer an official number plate plinth or mount for the 4C, same as the Giulia and Giulietta?

Wow so this is actually happening then!? I've spent the whole time expecting it to fall through!

I'm with Tonbridge though and I think they have a later build week.

Can I ask what deals everyone got in the end? What extras you went for?

No options for me, slightly regret that now, wouldn’t have minded some wheels and the exhaust. Was never sure it would come off so didn’t pay much attention to spec. I got the initial £2250 down deal and £250 a month. Picking it up Friday. (Hopefully!! - still convinced something will go wrong haha)

Congrats - got to be the best lease deal ever!

There are some spider limited edition wheels on eBay at the moment, and the exhaust you can always get one from alfaworkshop.

Wheels were a rip off and the race exhaust is boomy on the motorway.

Best off buying the alfa works exhaust and storing the standard one for 2 years. Then you can resell the alfaworks exhaust and get half your money back.

Same applies for the crappy standard wheels. Get some nice graphite 5 hole wheels (or an aftermarket set - few to choose from with our fitment) and new tyres and have them on the car for the nice seasons. Put the stock wheels back on in the winter! You'll probably have to change a set of tyres during the lease anyway (rears!) if you're driving the car properly over 12k miles and then have a set of wheels to sell on at the end of the lease.

Thanks. You wouldn't happen to have a photo of the official Alfa plinth would you, or even a part number? I've just been through every 4C on Autotrader, and every one with a normal height number plate appeared to just have them bent and screwed into the front bumper. Some of them at rather comical angles!
