I went to see a local Alfa Romeo dealer and he couldn't get his head around the deals and how they were possible, even the 50th anniversary ones, so there seems to be a lot of confusion! If someone has had a build date of October confirmed, I'm still holding out hope mine will be honoured!

Have you been in touch with Thames with regards to putting down a deposit this week yet?

Yes, was told won't take a deposit until it's confirmed by the factory, which obviously now doesn't sound great if what was mentioned earlier is true, however I'm still optimistic until Thames tell me otherwise!!!

So what happens to this confirmed order now then?
I'm completely at sea in regards to what is happening with the dealers, finance companies and Alfa.
I know some guys at alfa dealers and i asked the question with a few as i was interested myself after passing on a 50th as i didn't want to take it this month.

Basically it will show on the system the discount for a factory ordered car but it will bounce when processed by finance just like many great pch of late.

I did ask them about the last cars with mega options and there may be a late push by Alfa to get these cars away but this hasn't been confirmed.

If anyone has placed a deposit on a factory order id pull your money back till they can guarantee a build slot....

My deposit is in and finance approved on a factory build. I'll not be trying to cancel and am going to let things sit.

Unless it's the specific dealer my order is with, I'll take things with a pinch of salt. We all know that local dealers tend to dismiss the validity of online deals for whatever reason - including lease deals and purchases through brokers.

For example, I've heard, on numerous occasions, of local dealers telling potential customers that cars sourced through a discount broker wouldnt have the same UK warranty and other such ridiculous nonsense.

Thats not to say that there won't be an attempt to cancel these deals - but nothing I've seen from the supplying dealer to date would suggest that this is the case.

Would be interesting to know how many people got some of these good deals, whether 50th anniversary or regular coupe/spider.

As mentioned above, happy for anyone who managed to secure one of the good deals.

The cynic in me wonders if this was either a big PR stunt or just total disorganisation on the part of the manufacturer and certain dealers. Either way, disappointing for someone like me who was new to the brand.

I have a tiny bit of hope that something comes through but frustrating as hell that I had finance approvals about 7-8 days ago but dealers have been fumbling around without any meaningful clarity on which cars are available.

Suspect at least one dealer had acted in bad faith, and maybe for the others it's just Italian chaos that means they didn't have clarity themselves.

Disappointing for me and makes me think poorly of Alfa Romeo, but well done to those who got the good deals.

UPDATE:

Alfa will not honor ANY orders for 4C's other than the stock of 50 vehicles that were in the UK pool. This has been confirmed today which is a bit disappointing...

Some dealers are hopeful that they may be able to offer the same levels of discount for factory orders once this stock is depleted but this is highly unlikely.

there are around 20 cars left but are all high spec so sitting £500+ pm (not a bargain for a track car essentially) these cars i think may be reduced further as i cant see them shifting...

At the headline figure of £299 they were def worth a go, did anyone get anywhere near that figure? Anyone on here grab one of the 50th cars that Central had just keen to get a snapshot.

A lot of confusion on here

No 4C's are being built at the moment, Alfa want to clear out the stock they have, once these cars are gone series 2 production will start.

All 50th editions are sold (unless a dealer has a cancelled order) we did 15 at Chris Variava of this model at the deal of £4000 initial rental + £399.95 per month the deal was there and so was the cars. A lot of other dealers have taken deposits on other deals (standard cars) there is no standard cars you will not get the car. they will take your deposit and then try to sell you a more high spec car at a higher monthly rental, we are seeing loads of this!!

The cars that are built have different options on them but we can do a deal on them, a well spec spider is around £439.97 per month PCH £4399.68 initial rental 5000 mile's.

Paul my manager runs the 4C section of the Alfa Romeo owners club and knows the cars inside out and the deals and cars available.

Thanks for clarifying Matt and this is in line with what I have been told, Variava's deals seem way off what Central & Mangoletsi (circa 9/23 @ £299pm) offered as the headline figure, knowing you guys are all choosing from the same stock are these headline figures advertised by other brokers porky pies? Did anyone bag a sub £300 4C? just curious...

I thought much of this was understood - the clarity is required on the Series 2 production - the deal with Thames (9+23) at £249 on a base coupe @ 6k miles per annum is the one there is still uncertainty over.

I am still being assured that build slots in the final quarter of the year will be secured at the level stated above, with delivery ear marked for the first quarter of 2018 . .

In relation to the spider deals - I was one of the first to call with regards the £289 deal at Mangoletsi - instantly put off by the fact they wanted a 2k deposit to even discuss the optioned prices with me. I called in person instead and quickly realised that the advertised levels were way, way off and no cars with a spec below the £3500 in 'free options' existed.

I'm still hopeful that they come through and have heard nothing to suggest they won't (except for other dealers casting doubt over their deal which, perhaps incorrectly, I'm not putting too much weight on).

I've bagged one of the 50th anniversary cars via CVL and am being told by the supplying dealer that they will have to be registered by end of June so hopeful of getting mine around that time.
Sorry to hear you other peeps getting messed around and possibly losing out on ghost like deals.
I signed up within minutes of getting the email through secondhand via a mate of mine, seemed too good to be true so just went for it.

Still wondering if these cars have been sitting around since the launch last year, can anyone confirm this?

Ask the dealer for the build date. I thought all the anniversary editions were built second quarter 2016 so would be a year old now.

Does warranty start from build date ?

Dealer doesn't even know when car will arrive, I'm sure a build date would be beyond them.
Shocking really in 2017, Alfa cannot provide their dealer with a delivery date for a car sitting in the UK. They have the transport system, they know the address what's so bloody difficult in working out a date.

Such a shame as they build really interesting cars but the importers still seem to be like a rudderless ship.
If I was at the helm they'd be given a right kick up their arse's.
There's a genuine opportunity here to rebuild the brand yet it appears a total lack of interest and this has been going on for decades.

Agreed Andy. I think the Giulia and the Stelvio are the companies last chance.

Surely the dealer should have a lead time. I've been dealing with Matt from Chris Variava who has helpfully been posting on here too. They have a typical leadtime so I know roughly when the car will arrive at the dealership.

This does seem like another but I'm not sure if that's by Alfa or the individual dealers. Offering a lot of cars at a massive discount that seemingly won't materialise is bonkers. I hope that isn't the case, imagine a PH 4C meet up!

I'm intrigued as to what the series 2 cars are. Has there been a change in tub design, if so what are the changes? Any spec changes as well?

Hats off to Chris Variava who were able to confirm today a stock car for me.

Hoping to collect a white spider sometime in the next few weeks! Thanks to Paul and Aaron who have been great throughout.

Final formalities to be sorted out tomorrow but so far they have been fantastic. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
