Alfa 147 Bonnet Release

Has anyone ever had the bonnet release cable snap on their 147/156? Short of an angle grinder to the catch, how do I get the bonnet open to replace it if I can't err open the bonnet? Just praying I don't get a flat battery/need to top up oil/washer fluid in the foreseeable future....

I think youll have to destroy the front scudetto/ badge and protective cover to get to the latch from the front of the car. Or take off the passenger side wheel arch lining and feel around the top of the side member for the cable and pull it, it think it runs along with the wiring loom.
