I was called by dealer yesterday saying part had arrived and could I bring in spare key , I drove over only still to see car in bits and dash board infotainment system etc.. all chucked in the boot.
was called today and said put your car back together but we have another problem can't start the car as we cannot calibrate the keys so we are in the hands of tec guys in Italy who are baffled by this
However while we are waiting we are going to try and get your car on back of our low loader and get it in the paint shop to re spray the boot
Final words from dealer we hope to get your back in a few weeks and we will valet the car for you
Remember this car is 4 weeks old covered 103 miles broke down twice in the 103 miles
So far they damaged the consul taking car to bits also I noticed yesterday the door trims and passenger front carpet and rear carpet has been pulled up to get to wiring loom
If the car as they said will be another 2 weeks they will have had the car longer than me .
For me now it as only left a bad taste with this product

Sounds like a nightmare.

Have you taken any legal advice with regards to rejecting the car under the consumer rights act 2015? If the car fails in the first 30 days the buyer has far more rights than under the old sales of goods act.

Sounds like you need to reject it.

Pretty much every manufacturer produces a "lemon" occasionally, though it must be particularly galling for a premium product like the QF.

Just out of 30 days car was 44 days process made today with dealer and Alfa romeo
Car purchase price with all options ticked less CB brakes was just over 67 k
For no part exchange and full payment in cash no finance required car was sold to me for 60k with 3 year service plan and private number plate transfer included.
Have came to a agreement with dealer and Alfa
1) car to pass a full inspection by myself and after test drive no rattles etc.. also paintwork job on boot to be 100% perfect car to have full valet with that new car smell , the car has covered now 123 miles 20 miles road testing by dealer.
2) for carbon fibre grill to be fitted and carbon fibre gear leaver FOC and full paint work protection
3) A full compensation package to be agreed with dealer and Alfa then offered to me , this at present I have yet to be informed but will be in place when I go to see car next Friday when it will be ready for collection.
Other thing been offered is a 2 day holiday hotel a flights and visit to Alfa romeo and Alfa museum
And a car cover in the post I asked about this as in brocher on quadrifoglio it says car comes with a cover but Alfa said this is a cover that is used for transporting the car via boat from Italy to the uk , only cars for USA get covers
However in the light of this case a cover as been posted out today.
Dealer said today reason why keys would not reprogram because tec keys in Italy had shut down immobiliser from there end ? Which still baffles me
So see what happens next week unless it is a silly compensation offer and if that is the case I will not go and see car
At present there are no RHD uk cars at the factory and new quadrifoglio's are in short supply at the factory , this is what I was told by Alfa romeo but for all I know they well be telling porkies so not to give me a new car straight away

As far as I'm aware they are built to order so there won't be any spare ones around.
Sounds like the dealer and AR are doing everything they can to fix the situation.
A shame it happened in the first place but things can and do go wrong unfortunately. Still annoying though.

Your storey and all the other tales of gremlins from the motoring press has swayed my decision not to buy one, pity as it's a great drive but my local dealer doesn't even seem interested in selling me a car, so I can only imagine what their aftersales will be like. Indecently they had three new Quadrifoglios in stock a couple of weeks ago, so I don't think they are that much of a short supply. Hope you get a good outcome.

Hope I never put you off buying one they are a great car I just ended up with a lemon
Alfa and dealership are in conflict with each other and as I said unless compensation is a good offer I will not except car back
I will know by the end of the week hopefully
Wait a year and pick up a used one they will either stay stable or drop a fortune
I see there are 19 used ones for sale now and are starting from 55k and they have been for sale a while , another dealer near me has had a brand new one for sale since Feb not a bad spec car either ( does not have carbon seats)
Purchase price 65k but with no part exchange and cash deal you would get that for 58k

Well to be honest the residuals are also another reason I have moved away from it. Like you I've been watching the market and cars are simply not selling, the car now at £55k started at £60k and has steadily reduced over the months, my local dealer has had the same car for sale since February, this isn't their demo it's a pre reg with zero miles. The trade in price of a November QF is similar to the trade in price for my September 2016 M3 CP, trouble is I got £10k off my M3 so the loss will be much greater on the QF

All 12 of them? The ones that arrived in December you mean?

Bit hard to judge trade in on 12 x dealer demos that sold straight away. Those still at dealers are cars that were to be held for 6 months before being passed to customers.

If you think they are hanging around because they are unsold...... ask the dealer.

First of all I'm not having a go at anyone or the car, I've drove one and wanted one but a few things have changed my mind, I may well look again in 6 months time. I know the dealers had to keep them 6 months as I drove one of them. Many of them are still for sale, some have been listed for 3/4/5 months with 'available from may' stated on the adverts, November cars have been available to buy for a while now. Having lots of launch cars up for sale at the same time is not unusual in its self, but I keep hearing that they are flying out the showrooms when they obviously aren't, as I mentioned earlier, my local dealer had 3 in stock a few weeks ago. The trade price for them is mid to high £40k, that's the same as my slightly older M3 CP. I thought they would faired better due to the universal praise and small discounts, if the demand was as high as many seem to think it is they should have commanded a premium. I definitely thought it would do a lot better than my M3, in the short term at least.

I wasn't aware any arrived in November. Pretty sure I was one of the first to drive one last December as the demo cars all arrived at the same time.

Anyway, it's a shame you're not buying as you're missing out on a belter of a car

If you're worried about residuals then the Alfa probably isn't for you.

Dale is right, he had a lemon! Which is a terrible shame as the car is more than fantastic. I was due to buy another marque, but they couldn't deliver to the date they had confirmed. I cancelled the deal and went to Meridien Milano in Portsmouth who had a brand new un-registered car to the spec I would have had! I put a deposit down, test drove it on dealer plates once it had been pdi'd and totally fell for it - even after only driving it 5 miles in the pouring rain. Since delivery is has been perfect and in the dry immense, even in the wet is was very surefooted. Don't be put off by Dales experience, be aware of it and buy with your eyes open. This is a great car that more than puts a smile on your face biggrin

Just to show this can and does happen to any car, this was on Facebook and I think it beats the OP:
"Hi Robinsons Mercedes Peterborough,

At the risk of my friends being annoyed by this post, you've now had my brand new, 46-mile old Mercedes E-class for almost six weeks (since it blew white smoke out of the exhaust and was towed away after I'd driven it for just 25-miles, while it was filling the engine up with water).

21 miles of the total 46 miles were for delivery.

Just wondered when you might get round to fixing it, or telling me what the plan to fix it is?

It's great you've loaned me a C-class in the meantime, but, it's a real shame to see my brand new, broken down car, that I'm paying for, sat out by the bins round the back of your workshop and there is still no sign of a solution yet?

P.S. Tried to call to discuss today, but yet again, Michael in your Peterborough workshop team didn't call me back, despite me leaving a message at reception just after 9am, and being told he was with a customer and would call me back shortly. Again, he didn't.

Cheers, Marc"

Well I can't speak for the Merc but I have got my QV back !!! At last , as promised it was totally cleaned and waxed like the day I bought it had extra 40 miles on the clock due to road testing but a full tank of fuel on collection
So far no rattles or issues as yet , no carbon fibre gear leaver as Alfa have not put them in to production , however did get as replacement carbon fibre wing mirrors instead , and carbon fibre front grill.
A all paid trip to Italy to Alfa romeo , an Alfa romeo car cover , VIP tickets for 3 days to goodwood , and a compensation financial payment
Just hope now no more issues
While I was there collecting car I did notice another QV on a 66 plate with engine out I did say what's happened ? Reply was " please don't ask".
I do feel sorry for the owner in someways I know how he must be feeling.

Sounds like a good result.
Now get out and drive it and enjoy it.

Glad you got sorted. My Quadrifoglio is due in August.

Always a risk of getting a Friday Afternoon car, I've had it with Merc and my wife's BMW, but it sounds like they have looked after you well.

Enjoy the trip to Italy!
