Interesting. Not what I've read or heard tho so far. Maybe it just takes off traction control and makes exhaust noisy?

So much misinformation and conjecture peddled as fact around, positive and negative, over this car. Means it's making waves which is good. I'm just waiting till mine arrives and find out for myself!

please keep us informed, i'm watching with interest. my choice at present would be the misano blue as too many people are specifying competizione red with the gunmetal rims :-)

Misano Blue is only available on the Veloce isn't it (which looked amazing at Goodwood)?
There's Montecarlo Blue for the Quadrifoglio.

The Misano Giulia Veloce looked fantastic at Goodwood, it should be an option on the QV - although I am so much more than happy with my Competizione Red one, maybe my next one will be blue! ; )

Yup, that's pretty much it. The overboost is purely to make some impressive peak figures. That peak is very tiny and has no impact on the way the car performs on the road.

I've done a lot of vbox testing on this car in all modes and modes N, D ans Race are identical performance wise. Vbox doesn't lie unless it's dropped out of gps connection and when put through dbscanner software it is pretty much argument proof. This is not a negative on the QF as the car is bloody impressive straight out of the packet. 7.95s 100-200kph and 9.5s 60-130mph is up there with the Ferrari 458. This is an awesome car.

Have any owners used A mode and does it make a big impact on fuel consumption?

I tried a demo yesterday and was told it only runs on 4 cylinders. I felt like it had got rougher but am firstly scared it might not be good for the car and secondly wondering if it makes any difference at all?

When you are feeling chilled 'A' works, then turn it to 'D'! Haven't used 'N' & 'R' sounds fantastic ; )

The cylinder shutdown works in A, N and D. The gearbox is what varies the mpg as it will sit in different gears depending on what mode you are in. Also, there are many parameters to be met for the cylinder shutdown to function and even then it only works for a split second at a time. You'd never notice it in the drivers seat. The gains in mpg is another baited hook to make the car appear super economical. It will do 40mpg+ in all 3 of the main driving modes if you are sensible.

The above was tested using an odb reader by another forum member.

In A it prevents the front splitter from deploying which would increase down force but also drag.
To give you an idea of fuel consumption, round town or hoofing it in N and D I average around 21mpg (it really doesn't like town driving from an economy perspective). Recently I did a motorway drive so I tried A at around 75mph (give or take a bit of fluctuation above and below). I averaged 39mpg. It will do over 40mpg as ecain63 says, which I find astonishing for a car with 500+bhp.
BUT it was so dull! Not done it again but nice to know for when I drive to Italy and back in a few weeks whilst sat on motorways.

Also useful to be able to demonstrate the the wife that "see, it's pretty much the same economy as a diesel on a good run..."

Martial justification is everything.

Absolutely! Anything you can think of to justify it. It's so worth it.
Also try the "it's essentially a 4 door Ferrari". Insurance is pretty cheap too.
And the highest scoring occupancy rating for a 4 door saloon in the new Euro Ncap tests. 5 stars too.
If I think of anything else I'll let you know. Haha.

I was told by the salesman that it only runs on 4 cylinders in A mode. Not as above that it goes to 4 cylinders occasionally.

Looks like the salesman talk ste as usual.

Was deeply impressed by it on my test drive and need one in my garage!

You'd think by now they'd have a strong knowledge of the product. But they just don't. Maybe if they learned the car and it's ways they'd sell more!

It switches to 3 cylinders briefly then back to 6. It switches one bank of cylinders off, hence 3 and not 4.

Done all of those (and insurance really is cheap..!).
Also added the 'so easy to drive', small and easy to park....etc etc.

I was staggered how little they knew. I was told folding seats and 3rd rear seat belt were options.

Still haven't discovered whether the roof bars as advertised will fit on a QV (for carrying a bike) due to the carbon roof.

This was my concern. As I would like to transport my bike in the car, so seats down was a big deal for me..
