Lancia Delta Gearchange Clunk

I had a new gearbox fitted a few years back (to the tune of circa £900) but the car has always suffered from a clunk when you change into 2nd, especially when cold. Any advice on what the issue is and how I can remedy it? Any help appreciated.

The car is a Delta HPE, its the Integrale 16v engine but front wheel drive.
