Had a test drive in a Veloce yesterday, stunning Car. I WILL be back in an Alfa soon.

Unfortunately not a Veloce though, probably a Super but possibly a Stelvio.

I'd also put the relatively poor sales down to lack of dealers, I'm fortunate in having a good one within 15 miles of me, but there are vast areas of the UK which are bereft of them completely.

I test drove the Veloce and thought is was very good with great steering and decent performance. However, through a large amount of man maths I have managed to get into a QV which I should be picking up this Saturday. Its rather nice and the only down side seems to be (for me) that the rear seats don't fold down. I guess its due to chassis strengthening or something.

Four more sleeps ;-)

Awesome. Would love to hear some feedback after a few months of ownership. Already trying to work out the man maths to justify one once I've finished with the Octavia in 2 years or so.

How exciting. Please share your man maths though - I reckon I'm quite close myself - in for a penny & all that!

Did you sort finance - if so, any recommendations??

Cheers

Yes, ARUK dealerships are rubbish. A few months ago if you wanted a dem they only had the QF or the diesel version. Any other models you had to wait.

Why oh why do they have a UK partnership with Jeep? That's like having best steak and garnish it with Bisto. Nothing wrong with Jeep but FIAT, ALfa and Jeep -- doesn't work for me.

And unfortunately Alfa still have carry the tag of being unreliable and past issues with rust, even though neither exist ( or no worse or better than any other brand IMHO) with the more up to date versions. Sadly, muck sticks.

Mud tends not to stick if it isn't thrown!

I get your point about dealers not having cars other than the halo Qv, but it was released first and stock of other cars came later, This is not a dealer choice, it is a decision made ar FCA level, not even ARUK.

I have visited my local AR dealer several times over the past 4 years and have always been treated with great courtesy, have been offered drives in the car I wanted to try and eventually when I decided I wanted a car - Giulia Qv, they were brilliant with the sale and after sale service.

ARUK have also been great in building loyalty to the brand.

Could they do things even better, yes. It would be great if they funded more dealers and expanded the size of dealerships to cope with new models. I believe this is coming, but it is taking them time. So my only criticism would be a lack of urgency in this role out as opposed to the current car range or the existing dealers. If the Giulia/Stelvio can be designed and brought to market in less than 3 years, then ARUK should be putting the infrastructure in place to support it. This would allow more people to have easy access to a dealership and consequently a higher profile and more sales.

So, picked up my QV last Saturday and have used it in both long and short journeys. It's as good and better than expected. You can drive like miss daisy and it's like a lamb but in D it comes alive. Sh*t the bed fast and awesome handling with weird brakes. Seats are great, mine has the electric memory ones and as my other half is vertically challenged and I'm 6" this is a great option. Even tried the heated steering wheel this morning!

Sell a kidney and buy one you won't regret it

I'm looking at the current lease deals on the Veloce. Can I ask has anyone got the Giulia without the Performance Pack? Is the ride harsh? Cheers

I think you'll find none of the models has harsh suspension. Certainly the Quadrifoglio doesn't and that's the one you'd expect to be.
The compliance of the suspension is one of the things the car is praised for after all.

I totally agree on the suspension compliance. I had 3 'Jags' in a row, loved the ride and really see the Giulia as the closest alternative in ride comfort and with brilliant steering. Give it a try, brilliant car.

Thank you both - it's good to get some different opinions. A lot of the reviews I have read / seen are based on a car with the performance pack but its good to hear that the suspension isn't harsh without it!

Which lease company did you get yours from if you don't mind me asking? How was the service?
