Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio - Tyre Choices?

Hmmmm. Can anyone comment on how the MPS4Ss perform in the cold?
I should imagine exactly the same. They're a high performance summer tyres so the compounds will be rubbish in properly cold weather.Made it a little lairy today using anything more than half throttle before they'd warmed up!
For the benefit of anyone stumbling across this thread while researching what tyres to put on their Quadrifoglio, there's no longer any stock (in the usual places, at least!) of PS4Ss in the size AR recommends for the QV's rear wheels (285/30 R19), and no word on when they'll be restocked.

PS4S seem to be the go-to choice still, although I know people running Yokohama Advan Sport V107s and Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics and liking them.
I'm waiting on a response to find out if Continental are going to be making the SportContact 7 in 285/30R19, otherwise I'll probably be going down the PS4S route.

I'm looking for a new set for my Quad once the winters come off and I'm struggling to find any P4S' available. ASs above, the Conti SP7s aren't available in the right size for the rears so I'll probably end up going for Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersports.

Assymetrics and advan sport are a step down from the recommended aren't they though.I'm waiting on a response to find out if Continental are going to be making the SportContact 7 in 285/30R19, otherwise I'll probably be going down the PS4S route.
GY SS is the GY go to, but despite decent dry and wet performance not a patch on dry corsas and wears terribly IME.
When my alpine come off MP4S this time for me, seems ATS have them in correct sizes.

Just ordered some from ATS. They are showing as available on the website but when I ordered them for fitment on 1st April I had a call back saying they won't be available until 21st April. I'm happy to wait for them.theplayingmantis said:

I wouldn't say they're a step down, they're just a different application. The 'recommended' are either the full summer Corsa or the full winter Sottozero, I'd say both are too extreme for the UK as we don't tend to get a long dry hot summer nor a very cold snowy winter. The Supersports sits in the same summer bracket as the Corsa I'd say whereas the Asymmetric and PS4S sit more in the kind of weather bracket you'd expect most of the time in the UK--not really hot and dry and not really cold and snowy.GY SS is the GY go to, but despite decent dry and wet performance not a patch on dry corsas and wears terribly IME.

Depends whether you only take the car out in the dry or snow though doesn't it and also personal preference.
I tend to disagree - the car deserves the best tyres for the conditions corsas excepted and the mp4s and f1 SS's do very nearly as well as corsa in the warm and way better in less than ideal conditions to a very useable degree. If its going out in snow then winter tyres should be shod.
Both the cheap ones you mention others have used are the best if neither worlds and the car deserves better. A compromise on a car that shouldn't be compromised on IMO.
MP4S on order now but as others have said the rears not available till late April.
Edit to add the mp4s are fully comparable to the f1 SS's and corsas. To bracket them with assymetrics is incorrect. the assymetrics are lesser tyre whatever way you look at it. Price is a clue for starters.
Anyway happy driving.

MSUK don’t agree, but fill your boots
Prices would also disagree as would most owners it seems. But fill your boots.
All this from trying to justify other folk putting ditchfinders on!
Bet you haven't put ditches on yours?!

Edit I already said that woops
Happy driving.

I settled for the Michelin Pilot Super Sport in the original sizes. I bought the AMG ones, bit it now appears that the front are not rated above 300km/h so they need to be replaced with the M specials, that are Ok above it.
I found them a lot more usable than the corsas, even if I also have winter tyres. Outstanding in the rain, and excellent traction in the dry. I’d leave Corsas for track use…
