Hi got a a4 b5 1.8t with a standard dump valve am upgrading the turbo injectors intercooler so what's people thoughts on a forge dump valve there not cheap are you just paying for the name or are they something I should have on a modified engine?
Not sure but it its recommended to stick with Recirc/Diverter type Valves as it will not confuse the MAF sensors. Forge do seem to be fairly well recommended
Fitted a Forge diverter valve years ago to a remapped 2002 1.8 T Passat I had as the opinion was the original was a common failure point. Seemed to be a quality product and was trouble free for me.
I had one on my Ibiza years ago, only because at the time they where recommended over the stock one.
Bosch kept updating the original valve I think the latest version is 06a 146 710p. It's what I would spend my money on afaik they were fitted to RS4s and RS6s maybe 10 years ago.
Definitely stick with a recirc valve on the 1.8T, don't go for atmospheric.
The Forge is probably the best on the market, you can probably pick up a cheap 007p off eBay then buy the refurb kit ... Also worth changing the spring if you've had it remapped.
