Just back home from buying a 2012 500!

Just the base model in white but with black Abarth stripes, black mirrors, 17” diamond cut alloys (refurbed), red leather and, the clincher, the uprated exhaust - Monza I presume.

Collecting it Thursday night!

ETA Abarth 500, not FIAT, in case it's not clear

Since my last post on page 2 on this topic:

The 500C Multijet is doing superb, but is going back to the lease company in 3 months.

I already put 20.000 km's (approx 12.500 miles) on it in 9 months time biggrin

Since it's so convenient to have a company car (no bills, no tax, no insurance, no fuel,...), I want a new company car.

But since I want an Abarth 595C to replace this 500C, this can't be my lease car (Abarth not included...).

So, the plan is to sell my Tipo sedan en lease a Tipo SW S-design, diesel and autobox, with all possible options.

On the other hand... I've already ordered the 595C Competizione, and it has already been delivered.
I'm letting it sit in the showroom for 3 months until my lease of the 500C ends (otherwise I have 4 cars on the drive... Not the most practical thing + what will everybody think biggrin). I've gotten a serious discount for this (it can be a showcar drawing people in). It will be locked and will not be driven by anybody.

I've went all crazy on this.

595C Competizione MY19 (with the new, active Record Monza and minor design changes but especially... Verde Adrenalina).
I ticked every option box biggrin

Oh and let me tell you: that new Record Monza is LOUD, especially when you put it in 'sport'-mode.

That looks awesome, some interesting spec differences between yours and the UK market. I'm very jealous of your left foot rest.

Lots of lovely readers cars on here but how about putting them all in one place?

I’ll start. After a long love affair with everything from a Mk1 Panda 4x4, a couple of Seicentos (including the Schumacher, the only car I’ve ever regretted losing, a brilliant 500 Twinair Plus, an Outstanding Panda Twinair Cross right up to my current Seicento Sporting Abarth & 595 Competizione, I’m a huge fan.

What have you got?

Cheers,

Simon

His is a 2016 dealer car I believe. There’s 2 dealer demonstrator comps on the market at the moment one private sale with 30k for £13k and one at a dealership for £15k

2007 Panda 100hp, 123,700 miles and climbing. Been across countries, climbed mountains and been generally brilliant fun for the last two and a half years, I don’t think I’ll ever get rid.

Collected this a month ago, have spent a couple of weeks out of the country since so only has approx 800 miles on the clock. But I'm absolutely in love with it, fits the bill as a 2nd car perfectly and I've never smiled and laughed so much when driving.

SWMBO came home very tired from a very busy night shift saving kid's lives...however she didn't apply same attention to detail to pulling hand brake on..result was car shot out drive and made a sizeable impact on neighbour's garden wall. Surprised that the car came off much better than wall.
Looks like wall will cost much more to fix than car. Meanwhile she is in a VW Polo courtesy car...

So... what's changed?

My 500C diesel has gone back to the leasing company.

Did almost 20.000 miles (+-30500 km) in one year with it. Lovely little car. Never failed. Drove open for quite a bit.
Also when freezing biggrin

My red Tipo (with deep regret) sold end of January.

The Abarth Punto SuperSport is still with me.

The red Tipo is replaced by a leasing Tipo.

And I've gotten my Abarth 595C registered. Currently 500 km's (300-something miles) on it biggrin Still breaking it in, gently.

Red one sold. White one currently with me, for the next four years.

And just for sake:

I was wondering, long long time ago I've owned 5 or so Fiat X1/9 in fact my first ever car was such, a 1974 1.3 loved it and pretty special in those days with great driving pleasures, so, after that I knew how a car should feel/drive, not so boring as most other cars.

A time ago I was thinking, maybe one day I buy one again, but then it has to get a faster engine, yes you can buy a honda kit, but those are expensive options, or a Fiat 1.6 engine around 105hp hm....then I thought, a Abarth engine would be a good option if it fits, then it stays a Fiat/Fiat :-)

Some Fiat Abarths come by very cheap, even in the Netherlands, from say 450,-euro but say, around 900,-euro you can by a good car with the parts all in it to use for a conversion, the rest you can sell.

But it has to give about 160hp at least to give it some more fun power for the lightweight X1.9 a good sounding engine would be great too.

I remembered those Fiat Stilo 2.4-20V Abarth with around 170hp and great 5-cill front engines, looked up some for sale and good engines/cars for under 1.000,-euro some even 400.

But...would it fit without to many changes to the car? that would be a great combo and cheap parts, + 170hp and 5-cill angry roars.
so engine and gearbox?

here such engine out such car

that engine in such little car :-) but can it be done 'simple' or yes, but very hard to do.

Rene, sounds like it could be a nice project.
The first car that I owned in 1986 was a '78 1300 X/19 in a mettalic tangerine colour, I loved that car so much! It was followed by an '82 1500 that I had big plans for including a Farran Eliminator kit and a 2 litre twin cam conversion, sadly the discovery of near terminal rot put paid to those plans... I seem to recall quite a few fitting Uno turbo engines which given a little tuning could produce over 160 bhp..
Ive come full circle in my car ownership and am again driving another light weight mid engined, small and pretty car - and Alfa 4c Spider, I wonder if the 1750 engine from that and the guilietta would fit scratchchin

P.s did you sell your Hartge ?

Indeed, the Uno turbo engine 1300 (and 1400) are mostly done, or the 1.6 fiat palio? engine, or honda (expensive)
and even seen HF Turbo engines in them, or 20v Golf Turbo engine and or also often the Abarth TC 2.0 engine.

Not seen one with a 5-cylinder yet and 170hp from a 2.4 standard (with some room left) could be great fun if you still can find a X1/9 in a good shape :-)
what you say, my first was that 1974 model back in '81 and only just 5.5 years old at the time, it had already many rot spots, not just on the surface :-) bit holes...so my dad and I repaired a lot with GRP haha...standard in those days.

The Alfa 4c could indeed also do with some extra cc and power, but almost to new to convert, but when the standard engine goes boom after some tuning, than its maybe time after that.

And yes, the Hartge Z3 coupe 5.0 I sold in 2015 to a collector/investor in Belgium

After that I was free to buy something else, but some were already sold (TVR and Lotus specials) and one we had miscommunication and so I missed a good deal with a lovely and very rare Artega GT in a great combo.

So...I bought a Z3 again...(because the Z1 became too expensive (almost double the price) to convert with s65 V8...what my plan was for many years.
And the Z3 I used for conversion to Z3 s65 became a drama and much stress and many many broken 'promises' and people who did not do what they said and or broken many parts and delivered my car back in a very worse state...

And its still not completely ready after all in more than 3 years and lots lots of money spens, but the worst was the stress/lies/and time lost, after 1 year I lost the fun and energie, but of course it had to go on, a drama...but hopefully in a few months Dutch legal registration and then I gonna sell it, don't want it anymore, cost me to much time/energie/money it (they) spoiled my enthusiasm etc for the car sadly, so I want to forget after that, it was from those more than 3 year, the worst 2+ years of my live, so.

Next time, no more expensive from the ground up building car by someone else, or it must be a 'second' car low price and a builder I can trust and does what he promises.
Then maybe one day I gonna try and let such garage built such Fiat X1/9 with 5-cill (doing the big stuff and I do the rest)
Or a bit more expensive, a small classic TVR with V8 or Lotus elan FHC or Europa with fast engine, but then only with trusted builders who do what they say and can do that in the time, or around the time period they speak off.
