I'm a bit underwhelmed!
Yeah, just a bit of paint and a pointless badge.

They could have given it another 10% power and big silly wing for a few hours in the workshop.

I was expecting a LSD or something for the 4C. Not just a paint job.

Spider does look nice though.

The article says special edition, not final edition, same on the Alfa press release yesterday which it appears to be copied from http://www.alfaromeopress.com/press/article/alfa-r...

Is all this hype of an end date & allocations just what Alfa are doing this year , there was talk of a revamped 4C coming.

Its so hard to tell with Alfa whats going on

What are the running costs actually like?

i have pretty much knocked These off my list because of the expense + the bolt checking every 2 years.
Compare that to a Boxster or TTRS with 2 yr servicing at almost pennies I just cant justify!

And i think that will have a negative knock onto residuals. I know they are a great car but the market for Weekend warriors is small and the 4C is on exotic Levels!

Main dealer servicing prices tend to be high but for anyone able to take their car to Jamie Porter's Alfa Workshop in Royston, Herts, then servicing costs are much more palatable. They also work on the 4C more often than most main dealers so have a better knowledge of the car.

You can find their fixed menu pricing here https://www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/alfa_4C_servicing.s...

If you haven't tried one suggest you do, its nothing like a boxster or TT , they are run of the mill mass produced , The 4C is so different, you will love it or hate it , If you love it then it really isn't expensive to run, good on fuel, gentle on brakes & tyres, I think all because its a lot lighter, servicing isn't cheap but if you use someone like Alfaworks they are cheaper & with a far better knowledge base of the cars

If your on a tight budget then don't overstretch yourself, if you aren't then spend the money & have the fun that comes with a 4C

Servicing on the 4C is rather silly. You can get a first service on a Golf R with ~310bhp for £100-150. The 4C is £500-900. Both offer similar performance.

I have a Golf R and I doubt there are many situations a 4C would Keep up with it.

But that is besides the Point i want something that Looks and feels Special for the Weekends and i have had Elises before and thought they were great if utterly back breaking to get in and out of.
I tried the 4C and found Access and egress much better whilst still giving that sat on the deck stripped back racer feel.

Money is not a Problem but like a 348 I had many years ago I could afford the servicing but when you drive it 3-4k per year and every other year it Need a 1500 Cambelt Service the ownership experience gets a bit salty.

i live nowhere near the Alfa specialists so it would be main dealer for me and then the cost just kills it- and from what I get from the Feedback on here the costs are high and for me unnavoidable.

I know my 4c has the 280bhp upgrade but it kicks the butt out of my mate Golf R. And as for cost like you say if you can afford it what’s the problem? Salty??????? You can’t put price on having fun. One life live it. I reckon with depreciation, servicing and the ecu it’s done £13k in 2 years. But the fun it’s given is worth it.

Running costs - 40mpg.
Servicing - 500 quid from Jamie every yr.
Tyres - Im looking at about 20,000 for a set.

Its easy going on everything else.

As a rule for running any decent car (hatchbacks of ANY variety never count as a decent car-they are a tool only) budget 500 quid a yr to service it. If you think you are going to get away with spending less than 500 quid a yr at Pork on a Box then you are mistaken. Got one of those also in the family.

Im on 11,000 miles since Sept. Barely cost me fk all so far. I live considerably further away from Jamie than most and have considerably less time than most to get across to him, yet the car will still be going to him because frankly some things in life are just a fking no-brainer.

Not to mention Tax at less than £200 a year.

I called some dealers late this afternoon looking for a deal on a new Spyder. Best I can find is 15% off list. I’m sure I read a thread here with bonkers prices quoted on new, physical cars. I have a figure around £37 in mind that someone here stated they had paid on a new coupe?

Anyone aware of where the very best deals are at?

Slough / Thames Alfa Romeo had a couple of new and pre-reg coupes at around £43k. You might get a couple more grand off but I can't see you getting a new one sub-£40k. Spyders are going to be more. Try carwow and see what comes back smile

Mango had 10 in last autumn at around £43-44k, each with 7-9k of options on. Some rather silly deals to be honest.

Deals are pretty much gone, because fk all cars are being produced. Its stty weather, nobody has a scooby what is happening with production and Alfa have just announced the worst "limited edition" since Martin Lawrence told Will Smith that damn right his car was limited.

Still haven’t had it confirmed production is over , the latest worst limited edition is not being referred to by Alfa as final but I’ve been told by several people the uk won’t get any . I’m not convinced production is over but some have said it may be new emissions legislation that kills it . Production will stop in July , it does every year as Italy takes August off, it’s just whether any more are made in September and I guess also if they are made will Alfa uk decide to import them . It’s feeling like the Brexit deal is easier to predict at the moment

I’d have gone for a new Spyder at under £40k new. If those sort of deals, if they ever existed, are off the table then I’ll sit back to wait for a low miles Spyder with the price starting with a 2. Likely a private sale and I’ll be flexible on colour and spec. Pre April 17 has to make sense though I’m not fan of the early headlights.

I watched the Chris Harris review earlier on You Tube. He’s right in that the car walks a line between an Elise (I have a low miles S1) and a Boxster S. I’ve got a nice low miles 993 as well and a 4C could tempt me out of it.
