I’d have gone for a new Spyder at under £40k new. If those sort of deals, if they ever existed, are off the table then I’ll sit back to wait for a low miles Spyder with the price starting with a 2. Likely a private sale and I’ll be flexible on colour and spec. Pre April 17 has to make sense though I’m not fan of the early headlights.
I watched the Chris Harris review earlier on You Tube. He’s right in that the car walks a line between an Elise (I have a low miles S1) and a Boxster S. I’ve got a nice low miles 993 as well and a 4C could tempt me out of it.
You might have to wait 5-10yrs for a 4C to start with a '2' pricewise. Prices are all over the place at the moment but still hovering mid 30's which even here despite the cheapish dash/heater controls they look very good value. Most are low miles except the white coupe Alexanders have on 16k but still against the others on offer they can't call it as too expensive - which it looks to be.I watched the Chris Harris review earlier on You Tube. Oh for the love off...
Prices are not going to start with a 2 anytime bloody soon! How hard a concept is this to grasp?
Its also not straddling a sodding line between a Lotus anything or a Boxster/Cayman/TT RS/Alpine/anything bloody else.
Its an extremely limited edition, carbon fibre tubbed junior super car that YOU CAN RUN AT 40MPG!!!!!
How the car drives, how it steers, EVERY SINGLE ASPECT OF ITS DYNAMICS IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM HAVE fk ALL TO DO WITH WHAT VALUE THIS CAR WILL EVER HAVE!!
Is that simple enough? If it isn't then I humbly suggest that Sir knows bugger all about cars and will instead be one of those who forever whinges about cars being too expensive and speculators and all the other stuff.

Prices are indeed all over the place. Despite your caps lock shouting, the car as a driving experience is indeed between an Elise 220 and a PDK Boxster. The pricing confusion is no reflection on how good the car is, just the fact the market doesn’t know where it sits. Trade on a high spec 17 Spyder is £35500. At present this explains why trade don’t want to bid on them. It also suggests that a car beginning with a 2 price wise is likely.
I’d like to buy a nice car at as best price as possible. That’s not meant as insulting to current owners at all. I think long term values will rise.

The car as a driving experience is neither here nor there. No value of a car was ever determined by how it drives in relation to anything else.I’d like to buy a nice car at as best price as possible. That’s not meant as insulting to current owners at all. I think long term values will rise.
Trade on a high spec 17 Spyder is £35-36k because the purchase price was only £44-45k.
Trade doesn't want to bid on them because the Trade hasnt got a damn clue whats happening around the product in the short term. Nobody does.
Only 3 things ever determined the value of a car: Rarity, provenance and looks. Dynamic ability is and always has been irrelevant to the cost of a car.

I gave £48k for this 2 years ago and would probably be lucky to get £38k if I sold it now. The thing is once you’ve owned one and experience the amount of fun that comes with it you won’t care about money. I’m not selling ours because I don’t think I could replace it with anything else more appealing. Blah blah blah is all I read no it’s not the best interior, handling, engine etc. BUT this car will get under your skin like no other.

That's a launch edition with the front intakes? I'd suspect it's up the top value wise. Is that Alfa red or the or the 3-stage paint red? I can't work out which is the brighter red (ie like Ferrari Rosso).
Personally I'd have to do some retrimming inside to add more carpet and 'de-tone' the plastic for my taste but that's not a deal breaker if it can be done. Alcantara dash/door panels would set it off but wouldn't want to knock the value at some point I came to sell.
Looks and condition will always sell these cars.

Yeah it’s the launch Edition in Alfa red. Bugger of a colour to keep looking sweet. Cheapest I've seen is £32k dealer. There's a private seller who has had the Alfworks 'fix' who wants £38k!
How much is the extended warranty on these?
£595 per year. Bargain, not that they really go wrong. How much is the extended warranty on these?
The car advertised at 32K is a dog. Covered in scratches, interior tub scratched. Avoid it. Its cheap for a reason.
Most I've seen seem to get interior scraches on the tub where you get in and out of them. Can these be buffed out? I note they have the plastic film on the painted areas of the door kick plate but not to the carbon tub?
Anyone seen that grey one @£37k in Walton on Thames? But if it's a 2014 that's early and not a launch edition? Can get a lot newer for that price. Not sure on the grey colour

Grey I quite like and I feel it looks a lot better when you see the car but just doesent seem to look good in Photos .Anyone seen that grey one @£37k in Walton on Thames? But if it's a 2014 that's early and not a launch edition? Can get a lot newer for that price. Not sure on the grey colour
Re the carbon parts of the cill adding film to these is a good idea as they do as you rightly say tend to get marked . Being basically a rectangular piece of film it’s straightforward so shouldn’t be to expensive , I’ve had it done along with a few other bits. It might even be a DIY job for some people .
Having seen the official letter to say production ceases and the last build slots have gone I decided to take the plunge. I was going to buy a GT4 but having driven a 4C, its handling and rawness along with the price tag was enough to sway me. I managed to pick up a 2017 with 124 miles on the clock!
Depending on how often I intend to drive the car (likely less than 3k miles/yr) it made it a contender. Were I using the car more as a daily then without doubt the GT4/Cayman S would have won. Porsche build quality remains second to none.
Whilst I like the carbon fibre I'm thinking I need to do some work on the interior whilst making sure its reversible for originality. Thoughts are alcantara headlining/A pillars, under dash alcantara. Sound proofing to doors with leather/alcantara covered door panels, carpet/sound proofing to rear bulkhead and floor to front of seat edge.
Does anyone know where in the North West I can get some prices?
The 2017 demo I drove had no wayward steering problems that early cars seem to produce so I'm not sure if this is a geo issue and if the Alfaworks tweak is necessary?

Amazing they didn’t offer leather for the door cards and windscreen pillars. Even as an option. The weirdness of heated door mirror mirrors with no heated rear window and a single din stereo with no nav is bizzare. Carbon tub for light weight with a rear tailgate that weighs loads. Crazy mish mash, great car.
