So…

The car is going (finally) but as I wouldn’t sell it in a condition that Wasn’t pretty perfect - time for a wheel refurb and new tyres all round!

Changing up the colour of the lightweight wheels as I’m not a fan of black car and black wheels.

Going with a popular colour at the moment but I think will work well:

Should get the car back Thursday or Friday. Looking forward to seeing how it comes out.

If I hadn't gone with a lease 595 I'd have had yours.

Geeks, thank you again. No more do I have to fiddle with a key to both old the cap whilst trying to wiggle the thing unlocked!

Hope you’re feeling better! Scary time for you…

Love the colour - they will look great.

So… what’s next? Are you scratching the V8 itch?

I’m feeling much better. Not 100% out of the woods but I’ll get there.

I’m hoping they come out the way I can see in my head - we’ll find out by the end of the week - it was being ill that pushed me to make the change finally out of the Abarth - the wheels were untidy and showed the slightest mark (being black) and the front tyres needed doing anyway so did it, it’s time for someone else to grab a very good car!

As for the V8 - I’m struggling to find anything even vaguely local to have a drive in. 55’s aren’t coming up for sale in huge numbers this year which is disappointing. The rising fuel costs aren’t helping my decision.

Did take an SLK350 (r172) out the other day but it felt quite big and square.

Looked at Z4m’s too - had the engine in my E46 M3 so I’d like something different. The N54 twin turbo in the newer z4 35i cars is fragile…

So I’m a bit stuck for a decision.

It’s back. I’m very pleased - it’s subtle which I’m glad of.

Yes, I know it needs a clean.
Now to sell…

I see yours has a sunroof I had an early SS with a sunroof and loved it. Also had a convertible a few years ago and I think the sunroof option is better suited to the car.

I’m now on the look out for a new or nearly new comp with a sunroof but they are rare and the sunroof is no longer on the configurator as an option My plan is to get one and keep it forever. We won’t have the chance once the e v brigade win. Any idea if the sunroof is coming back as an option?

If anyones aware of one that fits the bill please let me know. Must be a comp in red, white or grey. Thanks.

From what I’ve read, the options list for these has shrunk considerably- no more sunroof, no more performance pack (no carbon sabelts, lightweight wheels, LSD). It was a n expensive option (which mine has)

Can’t tempt u into a black one? hehe

It turns out that I can get a sunroof in the new 2022 695 Turismo which now has the 180bhp engine. Which dealer would you recommend using. I'm not bothered about location as I'm quite happy to travel to collect the car and enjoy the drive back. I'm more interested in finding someone reliable and good to deal with. Thanks.

Be aware that currently it’s a 6 month lead time.

I hadn't realised it was that long but its not a problem as this is an extra car to keep forever given my all consuming wish to never buy a hybrid/ev. Thanks for mentioning it though.

Not a problem seen it mentioned on a few groups. Not sure if that includes the standard factory summer shutdown.

We found Slough brilliant we’ve had 2 cars from them so far.

Thames Slough we’re good when we bought 3 years ago. But recent attempts to try and buy another somewhat less successful…

Do Sabelts come in different widths in the 595?

I remember test driving one and my thighs were together, in mine no where near.

Have I leased the larger gentleman's version.

Well following my posts above I am now the proud and pleased owner of a 595 comp in black with the sunroof, black alloys, leather seat upgrade, beats, carbon gearstick . Wonderful car.

Had it from Thames slough where I dealt with Abb who was great.

I intend keeping this car forever and it joins a 6,000 mile 1999 Mini Cooper as a keeper.

Thanks for the advice.

Great news. Post some pictures…

I’ve got a Comp and a ‘68 Cooper. The little Abarth is the nearest modern car I’ve found to the character of the Mini.
