So this happened to me last night, when it started raining after a couple of weeks of freezing temps

Reversed out of the car port and then slid down the hill in slow motion on black ice. Luckily the wheelie bin stopped me hitting the wall.

Really annoyed with myself cry

Hopefully the scratches on the bumper can be polished out.

Is the boot lid on an abarth interchangeable with a 500?

Thread revival…

I still can’t decide what to replace the Comp with so the car went in for its annual service yesterday at Glynne Hopkin St Albans.

Major service (4 years or 36k)

Nothing major about it except spark plugs and a £475 bill.

The walk round was interesting though and the work that the car needs urgently made me laugh.

Rear wiper rubber not effective - fair enough.
Their price £69. No thanks.

Wheel safety kit out of date (I presume they mean the tyre goo) - ok.
Their price £59. No thanks.

Here’s where it gets interesting:

Very little detail but in yellow writing for effect - “front brakes corroded : replacement cost £749.

I queried this seen as the front discs have been on for just over a year and covered 2700 miles. I asked if they were lipped and they said they weren’t. I asked what the issue was and was told that because the car isn’t used much - they have some surface rust on them.
I told them that’s ridiculous- to check their system and take note that they supplied them x months ago.

They had a bit of a discussion and said that they were no longer urgent.

Then - the big one.
Monza exhaust flap seized £2200.

I pointed out that they might like to check their records again as they had supplied and fitted a brand new system under warranty just under 3 years ago (6500 miles for me).

They looked, checked the flap again and said it had failed again and they only come with a 12 month warranty which seems very short for a manufacturer exhaust replacement.

Either way - the flap is stuck open so it makes no difference to me and I won’t be buying another one.

Dubious handling by the dealer I feel but did give me a laugh for the day.

Interesting my 18k service is due this year. On the first they said my brakes were worn. My driving style is very kind to brakes so I said TBNT.

Lease company says I can use an indie...

My local indi had now moved so they’re now not local - I wanted to keep a decent service record so had to use my local dealer. The next closest is an hour away.
It’s a PITA.

but I’m hoping it’ll be gone by next service - it’ll need a timing belt.

Urm, it *should* have a cambelt at 4 years.

Not according to them- I’m not sure I trust them anyway so more than happy to get a kit and get someone else to Fit it.

Joined the club this week. What bonkers cars these are - even more so than my JCW was!

Red is the best colour. Mine only came in blue (someone's cancelled order).

Has anyone on here got the auto version? I'd love one of these but need an auto cus of a knee injury. Apparently it's one of those bl@dy 'automated manuals' and everything that goes with that.....are they as bad as people make out? And can you still remap the auto with no problems?
Thanks

The auto box isn’t popular at all - I’ve met a few people with one and it’s a clunky thing. It is an automated manual as you mention - horses for courses though, if that’s what you need, you’ll still have a silly grin when you drive.

Wife had a MTA Comp (MY19) - decent little thing that was dramatically better than the Ferrari Edition we’d driven years earlier (that put her off the first Gen model).

We both loved it and unless you’re tracking the car or unreasonably wedded to a manual a good choice if it’s your everyday run about.
