Are they not selling well?

I had a look on Autotrader and even cars that are marked up as great or low prices have all been up for sale for 6 months+.
I think the whole car market is quite depressed at the moment. Time of year, combined with Brexit uncertainty has probably taken its toll. I've been tracking a few models recently and they all seem to be slipping at bit. I suspect things will pick up during spring when cars like this come back on people's radar.

Hi Paul,
Hope all goes to plan for you and look forward to seeing a post of your car and your thoughts on the driving experience.

I see That Autocar recently called the 4C out as a future classic. I wholly agree but I can’t say I agreed with the fact they said prices were low because they’re not that good to drive. Certainly can’t afford to take such things at face value. Yes the steering is lively, if a little dead on the straight ahead, but as a package it’s a great machine which is cheap to run, drop dead gorgeous and highly involving.

When/where was this? If it was an online article do you have a link? Or a photo if it was a magazine article? Cheers

It's a pretty terrible write up, imo.

Alfa Romeo 4C, £31,950: Hardly a bold prediction, but the petite, hand-built, carbonfibre-tubbed 4C has future classic written all over it. For now, though, prices are slipping, partly because it’s winter, partly because it’s no longer made so it’s relatively invisible and also because – whisper it – it’s not very good. Well, it’s sensational on a polished track, but its steering writhes in the hands on our pockmarked roads, the engine suffers turbo lag and the gearbox is slow-witted in auto mode. Far from perfect, then, but since when was that a requirement of a future classic?
Wat.

Evo seems to always have something in their magazines complaining about the 4C. I'm sure they haven't driven one in the last 5 years or so though.

For future reference, any owners in Somerset/Wiltshire area.

ProTyre Westbury have a Hunter Alignment rig which is actually set in the floor, so no lip/ramp to get up and the 4C fits no problem. It also has a neat build in jack thing with hockey pucks on so can safely lift the car.

I was there with Rob this morning and he was super helpful and let me get involved to make sure everything was going to plan, as it's not a typical car to deal with there. Will use them again for sure smile.

Yet Autotrader's valuation thinks that car is over £4000 overpriced.

AT's valuations are way off on a 4C. Undervalues mine by about £5k I'd say (and about £4k less than WBAC)

They have reduced the car since I posted that. He's now £2200 overpriced according to AT. WBAC are offering £29k for that car. A couple of guides think as low as £32k and as high as £36k.

The concerning thing is there is cars priced well within guides, but they've been up for sale for ages. Cars shouldn't be taking 6+months to sell.

Thanks jms - It did all go to plan.... I picked up a Competizione red Coupe today biggrin

Im over the moon with it, driving experience is exactly what I was hoping for. Coming from a AM Vantage into the 4C reminds me of the Exige I had many years ago.

Will get some pics sorted soon - but glad to be one of the group now thumbup
Cheers

You could say the same thing about the entire sports/super car market atm.

I’ve been tracking 911s and R8s for months and they sit at the same price for 6 months plus no problem. Money is so cheap now dealers hold on to stuff, the system is broken.

For all of you, be glad you didn’t buy a Mclaren a year or 2 ago

I’m on 20000 Miles, wbac offered 33, it was discounted to 50 new , was I think 57 list , so it’s lost a third in 3 years , that’s just normal depreciation . With money cheap, Brexit being sorted and the economy looking rosey a 4c in few months just sub 40 May be where it will settle , I certainly do not envisage sub 30 any time soon

Enjoy and welcome to the club! Yes the 4C is an intimate and involving driving experience similar to an Exige/Elise for sure.

Yeah, getting quite thin on the ground already (especially the coupe) and we're not into spring yet.

Down to 31 50th Anniversary Spiders now, 26 licensed 5 SORN. Guessing a LOT of these ex-lease cars are getting exported VAT free.
