Busso V6 in an Alfa Romeo mito??
Discussion
Just out of curiosity and boredom really but do you guys think it’s at all possible to cram a busso v6 in to an Alfa Mito? Given it’s not a big car anyway and it’s front wheel drive my guess is that if it was possible it wouldn’t be able to go near a corner. But do you guys think it’s doable?

Might need to cut a bit of metal out the engine bay but anything is possible I suppose
Great idea btw, when does the build begin?
Need to track down a Mito and a Busso engine first. Only a pipe dream at present and weary of explaining it to the insurance company when it’s fitted Great idea btw, when does the build begin?
I've got the utmost respect for anyone able to pull off something like this... But allow me to share doubts on the combination.
The Busso is a great engine. Classic stuff, never coming back thanks to legal crap. Alfa has put this in pretty decent cars over the years, FWD and RWD.
What is a Busso-Mito going to do better than a 147 GTA or a V6 GT?
As previously posted, dropping one into a 159 would be great. Or the big dream, into a manual new Giulia.

This is why I’m so hesitant to do it, because it’ll be so difficult to track down a Busso engine and when I do, if the build goes wrong it’s another one lost to oblivion. However if it works it’d probably be the only v6 Mito in the world. A 159 would make more logical sense bc it’s bigger and can handle the power a lot better. But still, a one of a kind thing with the best v6 engine of all time, the rewards would be great. I’d only actually do this if there’s a guarantee it’d work

Best v6 of all time?! Hardly.
A v6 is better than the mundane 4 pot turbo’s of today though, granted.
It must be in with a shout of being the best mass produced V6 ever, have you any experience of them? I have had two and they are great, not only in terms of noise but also throttle response, smoothness and power delivery.A v6 is better than the mundane 4 pot turbo’s of today though, granted.
It is wonderful V6: I think the 12v version is preferred by fans over the 24v. Bussos have been dropped into several 105s and 115 Spiders with some success, although some feel they make the cars a bit nose heavy.
If the GTA version and FWD gearbox (and with a Q2/Quaife LSD modification) were put in the Mito, could the Mito chassis cope with the 250 bhp through the front wheels?

I guess it really would be one of those things where you don’t know until you’ve tried it with the V6 because there’s a company that tunes the 155 t-jet to 240-250bhp so I guess there’s people with that sort of power but lots of it comes down to the weight of the engine itself as it’s more than twice the sizeIf the GTA version and FWD gearbox (and with a Q2/Quaife LSD modification) were put in the Mito, could the Mito chassis cope with the 250 bhp through the front wheels?

I've always fancied sticking the 1.7 TBI in the mito and creating the Mito GTA that never was. That would be an epic machine I think.
This is what a mito engine swap should be about! that insane GTA concept would be loads of funAs for the busso plan, i agree that a mito would be a waste of a busso, a mito simply wont handle as well as a well sorted 147 or 156, even if they are a bit heavier, and that is before you put an engine in there that was never meant to be there. And that is before you consider that a busso in a mito is an anachronism, the wrong way about even.
Bussos need to go into stuff like 105s, Alfettas and 75/155/156/147s, maybe the classic spider, putting one in what is basically a tarted up punto (a well tarted up one though, but still..) seems like a waste
I was interested in putting one into something beautiful. (OK that was another thought entirely)
Something like this:
It is a kit from America and normally comes with an large Yank V8 but I somehow think a 2.5 Busso with a high lift cam, throttle bodies and Wizard exhaust would be a perfect accompaniment. Thoughts?

That is something of a Ferrari california knockoff right? In that respect a well breathing italian engine sounds more proper then some yank V8, at ~2700 lbs a well tuned busso should be spritely enough for something with classic looks as well, no need for a 400+ hp V8
Makes me wonder though, are there any cheap V12s to be swapped into this? if only for the sound and "correctness"
Cant say that i like the looks much though, but that goes for the real ferrari as well

Yeah, kit car of the California Spider. Got a quote for the car minus an engine and it was $60k so not the cheapest but would be my choice for a project, just so pretty
Ooof, 60k...On the subject of kit cars to put a busso in, id go for a Hawk HF or some other stratos replica, cant find any prices now, but from memory i would think 30K would get you most of the way, if not entirely finished, including coffin spoke wheels. And a properly fettled busso would sound awesome in that
