Feeling the need to take a break from harvesting, last week we drove down to the in ln laws farm near Olney in Buckinghamshire. Signalling to turn into their drive, a tatty Alfa Romeo Alfasud stopped opposite us. Turned out that the driver was a local lad who had heard that we had bought a QF. He wanted to let us know that there was a big Italian car festival nearby on Sunday two days later. We met up on Sunday morning and followed him to it. Upon arriving the Sud was directed to the area allocated to Maseratis and Lancia ( we never found out why ) , whilst we were guided to tha Alfa Romeo area where we received a huge welcome being the only QF there. We were parked between a Montreal and a Stelvio. The QF garnered huge amounts of attention, despite being dusty and fly spattered,
and many photos of it were taken, especially detail pics of its carbon fibre bits.

Later we got talking to an Italian visitor who owns a QF modified to deliver 600 BHP at the rear wheels ! He is organising a " Best of Italy " motoring festival in Milan during the first two weeks of September, and was ecstatic when we told him that we were touring Tuscany during that period, but was then somewhat less ecstatic when we told him that we would be in our DB9 Volante. He did say, though, that he would see if he could find us a place in the public car park !
