I reckon I see what some of you are on about and I think it may be time to finally move away from German marques.

Does anyone know KU17 NKZ?

Going to have a nose this week and feeling like she might be the one.

Any other thoughts/warnings from owners would also be gratefully appreciated!

Cheers

Wow, they’ve put that back together very well!

Looks great with the yellow calipers.

Don't know the car but it's got a couple of key things in its favour:

Pre road tax hike.
Post 66 plate so shouldn't have any early car niggles.
Pre 67 plate so got the original suspension setup.
Looks great.

Interesting on the suspension! What was changed?

20mm taller to take into account UK roads and speed bumps. The nose is prone to hitting the deck at speed over humps. Poor old carbon lip can take a bashing at times. Personally I think the increased height is a bit naff. Looks better on that MK1.

Ahhh - that makes sense. I had noticed some looked far more purposeful, thats probably the lowness.

I am in one of London's most speed-bump happy boroughs though but I'll just risk it and see what happens

I have a 17 reg, so the original low suspension.
It's fine over speed bumps as long as you take them slow. I usually stick it in Dynamic too to stiffen the dampers up which helps lessen any 'bounce. If the bumps are the ones you normally straddle then I just go extra slow and put one wheel over it. Not scraped mine yet on a speed bump (mild scrape on a bad bit of road that I hadn't spotted though).

I had a look at the car today. Really liked the way it looks, although Monte Carlo blue is a lot lighter and more metallic in person - I was hoping for something darker. I think red may still be my first choice.

Bad points a bit of a loud clunk when going for full lock, is that normal? I didn't get the car out of dynamic but there really wasn't much shove...I suspect that I hit traction control when I tried to open it up. Its hard to rag something on a test drive, I'm too respectful of someone else's car i think. Engine sounds supreme though.

Decisions decisions frown

Just do it. The “early car niggles” are just scaremongering, mine is a ‘66 and hasn’t had a single problem in nearly 17,009 mile.

You won’t regret it!

If the tyres are cold then the Corsas will skip on full lock. Tyre swap to Michelin PS4S will sort that.

As for shove....... you drove it wrong. It's a missile. Normal, Dynamic and Race all have full power available... just with different throttle refinements. Traction control may well have been your issue.

Thats good to know RE PS4s. I think my hunt continues for a red car with the right spec.

No doubt though its quick, just not possible to open up on a test drive smile

Aside from the higher suspension and the addition of apple car play... is there any other significant changes for the mk2 that make it worthwhile ? I have to say the apple car play is appealing as waze will soon be added and it's the single app i use the most across phones/cars smile

Absolutely nothing else changed, other than the cost. Early cars were incredible value compared to what the new ones list at.
