I thought you rejected the Alfa QV a few weeks back?
Nope, rejected a Veloce back in May 2018.

Just pulled out of the deal on a QV unfortunately. I spoke to a few QV owners from some Alfa Forums and it appears Alfa's customer service is still as shocking as it ever was. Plenty of stories of cars being kept in for weeks on end for minor issues, and Alfa UK not providing the "Top Care" services they're obliged to.

Shame as it's a beautiful car, but there's no local dealers who can match the price unfortunately and I'm not comfortable buying from one garage miles away and taking it to another for work after what happened two years ago.

Never had a problem with this when it comes to any other manufacturer, but you really need to be on it with Alfa unfortunately.
It is gutting. I love my QV, faultless for 3 years and nearly 40,000 miles, best can I've had apart from track-biased cars, and even then a close run thing....., but I won't have another purely down to the dealers/service.
I dont understand if you love driving it and been faultless how does a dealer service stop you buying another? Also you dont have to use the dealers have you checked for Alfa Independants there are some really good ones around that know what they are doing - You might not get a coffee though or a decent loan car - but who cares if you drive a thing of beauty thats flawless!
2 hour trip for a service, let alone if anything needs fixing. And I do need to use main dealers as I lease cars through my business, and as mentioned above, independents can't fix things under warranty if needed.

All cars have problems. This one has been reliable, but I can't take the risk that if another goes wrong, I'll become beholden to an Alfa dealer or ARUK!

I guess i have been lucky then as my Alfa dealer is 30 minutes away and has been great - I have owned Alfas for the last 15 years - I also have a great indy 20 minutes away. Also each car i have owned has been faultless and a joy to drive. Just hope my luck doesnt run out!

This is why I had a good long chat with Saber at Research Nuneaton Alfa Romeo yesterday ... He explained some of the complications of there being so few dealers around, them all being franchised, and therefore trying to uphold a decent image for the brand. Really laid back and nice guy - would highly recommend anyone in the Midlands considering an Alfa to get in contact with him.

They're my local dealer (sub 30mins away) and to be honest after a few discussions with him recently regarding how Alfa are stepping up their game, I'd feel a lot more comfortable buying through them, or buying an Alfa in fact. I do feel I'd get much better support that way than buying from another dealer the other side of the country who would just supply the car then never see or hear from me again.

I'll see what he can come up with - worst case I'll continue down the BMW route this time and look to move to a QV in another 2 - 3 years.

Saber Ali appears to have cornered the market for Alfa sales at the moment. Almost every post I see on the Facebook groups is a car sold by Saber.
Good on him I say.

Edited to correct the spelling and rather surprised Sauber appears in my autocorrect rather than Saber... !!!!

He's probably the least pushy and most down to earth sales guy I've dealt with, on par with the person I've been dealing with at BMW UK Forces.

Really knowledgeable about the brand, passionate about it and very honest.

Agreed - nearly bought a car from him but fell through due to post office taking 2 weeks (!!) to get the paperwork to me, and ended up going for a Misano Veloce elsewhere as I couldn’t wait for another. Really great guy, offered me a fantastic deal and was hugely patient with my ordeal. Would recommend him to anyone. He’s on all the FB groups and often hints at incoming stock etc.

Re: dealers I’ve been hugely impressed by Stoneacre Liverpool since buying mine from them if anyone is looking for a NW dealer (I wasn’t keen on the idea of Mango) - sorted a couple of issues in no time, with a Giulia courtesy car, always friendly and professional. They’re mainly Fiat/Abarth but also do Alfa.

Avoid Mangoletsi at all costs. Tried to defraud me out of £5,000 with a fictitious repair, then lied about it. Over charge for servicing, charge for more oil than used....just dire.

Problem it, there are no other dealers around - there is the problem.

Next closest is either Preston, Chesterfield, Leeds or Solihull.

Or Derby and Nuneaton.

Saber at Research Nuneaton has been excellent. Picking my QV up from them at the weekend, can't wait!

Personally not had a problem with Mangoes with respect to servicing or warranty work. They were very hard to make a deal with when trying to buy, even trying to put the price of a car up above the original asking price when the first buyer fell through, needless to say I didn’t take the offer and ended up buying privately

It's shame that dealer coverage is poor in some areas.

My local dealer D Salmon has been a pleasure to deal with.

I went to a local BMW dealer to pick up some parts recently and realized I really don't miss going.

I walked in to the huge glass fronted shiny building was more or less ignored by about 10 people and floated around trying to find the parts counter which of course is now across the road on a back street. Despite the number of people I struggled to find someone to ask for help, had to be quite assertive to get anyones attention. For the record I was also in smart attire which is usually the sort of thing these people notice.

There were hundreds of 2 series active tourers and other stuff and I couldn't get parked anywhere without a right faff.

Loaded some side skirts into the Giulia for my Z3M and off I went.

In comparison a smaller premises with friendly and helpful staff is always my preference.

AlfaAid can and does source brand new cars and deals with warranty work, recalls and servicing etc.

I'm not affiliated in any way, but I find all this talk of dealer service putting people off cars a little bit OTT when there are viable alternatives.

True.....but that 3.5hrs each way for me!

FCA/ARUK/MOPAR don't give a st.

The sole reason my QF won't be replaced with another is due to the hassle to get to/find a dealer.

Agree on BMW, but aside from the fact that BMW UK are good (IME), if your local dealer is st (mine is) there are 6 or 7 others within 30mins/30miles.

Yep, I'm lucky - local BMW dealer (who are excellent) are 3 miles away.

For Alfa I've got Nuneaton (25 mins), Solihull (30 mins) or Derby (40 mins).

I know I'm taking a risk of going back to Alfa, but at least I'm in a decent position with enough good dealers around me - and importantly the one I've bought from and plan to use for maintenance etc being under 30 mins away.

Can't remove all the risk, but it's got to minimise it somewhat.

If I had just one good dealer within 30/40mins, I'd not blink in getting an other. I've had this car for longer than any main car in my life, and for the first time ever, I'm not ready to change it.

I would assume other independents can do this as well. I’m only 15 minutes from Alfaaid which is helpful...
