Slight thread hijack...

I'm picking up a 2018 Quadrifoglio in the next two weeks. It'll be the first rwd car I've owned and i've never had anything turbo'd nor anything over 360bhp before.

What should I expect / look out for / be aware of? From what I can make out the fuel consumption is on a par with my current 3.2 V6 so I'm prepared for that.

Nothing really, just enjoy it, and beware of cold and or worn Pirelli P Zero Corsa Tyres, not much grip until warmed up.

And also best to do the exhaust mod so you can have full sound in all modes and not only in race mode which means switching the TC off. Several solutions to fixing that.

It won't sound as good as a Busso with exhaust but little does, but everything else still takes my breath away!

For anyone who doesn’t know there are some Alfa approved service centres who can do all servicing , repairs and anything under warranty but who do not sell cars. I’ve used HWM in Walton on Thames for my 4c and always found them faultless.

This link from Alfa allows you to search for all places . Make sure you select aftersales and not sales. https://www.alfaromeo.co.uk/retailers
Thanks Stuart, that is a fantastic tip-off and gives me the confidence to seriously consider a Quad knowing there are alternatives outside of the mostly derided AUC network. I wish Alfa would hurry up and update the configurator with the MY21 spec and colours, I am keen to know if the heritage green will be available for order.

You can expect to enjoy it. In both standard and dynamic it will look after you whatever you through at it traction wise. But NEVER feed it after midnight or go in to race mode in the wet. Get some MPS4 ‘s on it ASAP and the you will be fine. Oh and on a an empty road or car park turn it all off and get it side ways 👍👍

The AMH mod looks like an easy decision at only £300. However, I thought the valves were open all the time in D and Race for MY20/21? If that's the case I am happy with that.

Just in case you can't find on a search its AHM.

You can also just plug the vacuum line ends with a bolt of golf tee so thats flaps are always open, that's what i did at basically zero cost.

mines a 2019 so only open in Race, but I understood they changed this and agree if you get it in Dynamic as well, then I would leave it.

Resurrection.... Just to day after 4 dealers denied all knowledge of it, I've just bought the service pack. £499 and it immediately covers the 36k service booked in for next week that would have cost £1265! The dealer's warranty 'girl' even highlighted it was incredible value.
Which dealer did you succeed with? I've tried 7 or so and MOPAR themselves... no joy yet. Got a call in with LC Motors as suggested above too. My own dealer who can neither sell the product not tell me who can, has at least confirmed direct with Alfa that it's still available and 3 yr pricing would be £649.

Hi All,

In terms of reliability I picked up my 2017 Quad last Saturday and 1hr later it threw a CEL it’s since been into a reputable garage and they discovered no less than 3 issues. (Active aero fault that appears to be a failed motor, and wastegate fault that’s not the solenoid with no solution or cause found yet, and a squeaking belt)

My question to those of you who have experienced issues with these cars is should I keep it or hand it back.

Currently the car dealer I brought it from is footing the bill for all these issues, but I’m concerned that it may be a never ending list of issues for months to come. And that the car has potentially had a harder life than I previously anticipated.

I would welcome all opinions and comments.

What’s the service history and warranty situation with your car?

3 services 2 done at an Indy and the major one from an Alfa dealer. Comes with a 3rd party warranty for a year.

Sounds like you should be reasonably covered then, especially if the selling dealer is fixing the current issues. Hopefully with these items sorted you’ll be trouble free after that apart from the usual battery issues - need to keep trickle charged if you’re not doing regular decent length journeys, especially if you want heater rear window to work. Would keep the car under some form of warranty, irrespective of issues (would do same on any car for this value/performance)

It’s always a tough one, at this early stage you could hand back the keys I get that. All I can tell you is the active front splitter motor is a common fault but easily fixed. I had to have mine replaced on my 2019, after about a year. IMO That shouldn’t be something that would massively concern me, the rest I’m less sure of.

Had my late 2017 since last June with Celtic remap. Commuting and weekend "exuberance" doesn't cover it. No issues touch wood. 18,000 miles but big service done already.
So hard to know if lemon, luck or that's the last problem you'll have. I always drive my performance cars hard, after proper warming, I genuinely think they like what they were designed for.
Oh the S/S never worked and I never asked.

One thing I presume the big service came 3rd instead of 4th due mileage (I got mine early negotiated in sale)? No issue with high milers per se bar residuals seem unduly appraised lower than contemporaries. I believe overall reliability is above sector average.

It was part of the condition of sale that I got the big service done. Good to hear that the motor of the front aero is a fairly common fault.

Not knowing how the previous owners had treated it outside of the service schedule I’m just starting to wonder if it’s had a particularly hard and potentially neglected life.

If I had 1 of the 3 issues I would be more comfortable but for 3 of them to pop up at once seems to suggest the car maybe one of those that spends its life going into the garage for one thing or the other.

I’m hoping the squeaky belt and CEL are interlinked in that the belt is not charging the battery properly which is then causing the CEL. The garage are checking that today, but if it’s not I fear it may be something that they may never find the route cause of.

Impossible to know but I'd prefer and enthusiastic previous owner than a garage queen or commuter. I know I'm jinxing but she/he (do we know) just reveals in, sorry, ragging, But with 100bhp over standard and no issues, touch w... the drive chain shouldn't and rarely is the issue. Have you spoken to previous owners, like most they'll fall in to one of two types.

I'm adore my QV but my window for a contemporary 911 turbo is closing but I really don't know what else I need as a very rare track user.
