I had a great 1.3 S2 Fulvia coupe back in the day Always fancied a 1600HF or a Zagato.

Can anyone shed any light on actual sale prices? I see good ones of both in 1600 engined form asking c. £50k - although Hagerty price guide has 1600HF coupes at £25k - can’t be right.

I also have my eye on a Zagato 1.3S. Worth having?

Cheers

I think it is pretty difficult to be precise because there are so few available. The 1.6HF coupe is a super thing, but my impression is they are 40k or more. I've always preferred the Coupe over the Zagato, which always seemed to fetch a higher price than a coupe.
I'd love another HF coupe one day.

Why not source another S2 Coupe ? A standard 1.3 S2 gives 90BHP - with a decent carb set up and a friendly exhaust you'll be over the 100 mark, a 1.6HF gives 115BHP. Add in an HF negative camber set up at the front end and you are pretty much there apart from the ally panels.

HFs are still strong money but 1.3S S2's in good nick readily available for £10 to £12K. Then you could be cynical like me - add in Gp4 arches, 6J Cromadoras, HF decals, a roll bar and "Lancia Italia" splashed across the front of the bonnet - no one needs to know !

Thanks. Having had a coupe, I've always fancied a Zagato so that's more cash needed.

Hmmm, don't really want to do much work - no time and other cars to look after. I've also looked at some very nice 1.3S2s (S1 too old and S3 don't like those white dials!) including a fully refurbished LHD for £20K - basically a new car but still hankering over that Zagato shape (which only works with Cromodora's IMHO).

biggrin

Out of interest: my 1300 S2 blinged up by the late and much missed Barry Waterhouse (of Lanciana and Italtune fame).

That looks great!

Had some really interesting days at Barry Waterhouse's place along Pelier St with my Beta 2000ie. One time had to take the cylinder head on the bus to get valve guides inserted and for a skim. Always ended up with loads of parts from the ones he was breaking out the front smile

The Fulvia Zagato is more extreme than marmite! I happen to be a fan and had several some years ago, all 3 were 1600cc more by chance than choice.
Prices of all models have gone up considerably and I have to wonder if the 1600 HF Lusso prices are worthy.
A nice Zagato 1300 is where my money will likely go in a year or two when I will be able to fully enjoy it taking it around Europe on a leisurely tour.
Have fun choosing OP and I’m sure you will enjoy whatever you buy.

Thanks, and that story does remind me of those days.

I’d tend to agree. If not a Zagato I could still live with another coupe.

Fulvia Series 2 1600HF's in really nice condition are fetching £ 35 - £ 45,000's. I know several which have changed hands recently at these sorts of prices. I'm aware of two other cars possibly coming to market soon.

Series 1 1600HF's are more sought after as the type homologated for rallying in period and are £ 80,000+
I know a couple of these available.

Zagato cars are somewhat quirky and styling doesn't appeal to everyone. 1600's are pretty rare, especially in RHD and a couple have sold for £ 30k+. Mostly mechanically the same as the Coupe, except gearing usually has a longer final drive.

Thanks, agree with that.

There is a very solid Zagato 1.3 on eBay at the moment. A fiver off £27K. Good shell, the right colour and recent engine rebuild etc. No eBay worries here, the seller is "MrSpeedLuxltd" who is a true enthusiast, specialises in 2nd hand Fulvia and other Lancias, he also sells at sensible prices. I've done deals with him.

..and no I am not connected in anyway with him or his company, it's just a heads up...

The buyer for this 1600HF paid (including premium) a little under £35K, with equates to the vendor receiving roughly around £28K

What a gorgeous car. If I was the owner of the HF I would be pretty upset at that result.

I share the pain. My rally prepped Fulvia 1.3 S failed to sell at Historic Auctions at Ascot yesterday. Not in the same league, paintwork a bit tatty and not the in-depth preparation of that HF, but a genuine car with a solid rebuilt engine and box with plenty of good bits including a new interior, Cromadoras and a stonking custom built Group 4 exhaust.

It got nowhere near its reserve of £10K so I drove it home. A gorgeous nut and bolt restoration Fulvia Coupe made about £12K for its owner, that seems criminal to me. Meanwhile, on the same planet and at the same auction, someone paid over £23K for a Ford P100 pick-up, nearly £19K for an XR3 and £37K for a hideous Plymouth Prowler with (I hesitate to mention this) matching trailer.

Funny old world.

Agreed. Fulvias, in fact, all Lancias, are totally undervalued,

2 Fulvias in yesterday's Historics auctions.

1 sold ,1 not.

Not the models you're asking about but maybe of interest.
