That's beautiful - bet you'll soon forget the restoration cost every time you look at it!

Well what a expensive couple of years of ownership it has been.

After trawling through this entire thread instead of writing my thesis, I've decided to procrastinate further by posting my own lancia.

Here's my 8V 'grale, 1989 model, the same as me. She's currently off the road pending a few small things for a warrant of fitness.
Needs a new muffler, head lights, rear door handle latch (which is why the rear window is down) but as I'm being a student again things are on hold for another year or so.

Bought from someone in Christchurch in December 2012 or 13 and had my old man pick it up as I was working in Australia at the time.

I haven't seen another 8V for sale in New Zealand since.

Absolutely no rust whatsoever. I intend on cleaning up the engine bay with some better hoses etc when finances allow.

Just stumbled across this thread. I'm not sure if there's much interest in the older cars but
Here's my 1959 / 60 Flaminia PF Coupe. Avorio Chantilly with black leather.

Great looking car.

But then I am a little biased - mine below: fresh from service, MoT, and a good polish and back on the road in time for winter!!

Lovely.

How do you feel about running it on gritted roads in winter?

I run my Evo 2 almost daily and inspect regularly for any tiny sign of rust before it becomes an issue, but must confess am starting to feel a little nervous as the car gets older and rarer.

I don't worry too much about it to be honest. It doesn't owe me too much and it's so much fun in the winter!! It's a bit scruffy around the edges anyway. Next year it might need a bit of work on the rear arches, but I kind of figure it'd need that work anyway and I get so much enjoyment out of it.

Good attitude.

Out of interest, do you have a preference for tyres (especially in winter)? I'm about to change to Pirelli P Zero as I understand their wet weather performance is pretty good (notwithstanding there are others with better dry weather stats).

Funnily enough i've been looking into it today.

It's on BF Goodrich g-Grips (I think that's what they're called) which are rubbish on wet and greasy tarmac - turns the car into understeer everywhere - I've been looking at options today - not decided yet but uniroyal rain sport 3s seem to have good reviews - others are telling me that michelin PS3s are the way to go...

P zeros I'm sure are good but they're twice the price of all of the other options.

The car is on 15 inch wheels and currently only on 195/50 tyres - I might go up to 205/50s though.

Lashings of Dinitrol in all the cavities will help a lot too.
