Had my first response in weeks yesterday, from a GT.

Do any Alfa drivers on here still bother with this, or just give it up as a bad job? I always give a flash and a wave to other Alfas, some that I see daily always wave back, but the majority on the road now seemingly don't bother.

I've given up flashing and waving. I've not had 1 single wave/flash back frown

But suffice to say, if someone ever waves at me, then you'll know for sure that I saw it smile

I've had a few waves from GT drivers, if any it's the 147 drivers who seem to be the worst culprits. Unless its a Collezione or a Ducati Corse or something like that, they generally just blank.

I get the best response from other Breras particularly S versions but I also get a good response from GTVs and Mitos.

Always wave and always will...but get nothing back from 147s or the newer Alfas frown

Had a little spirited drive following a 156 today, ended with a friendly acknowledgement when we drew alongside each other at the roundabout...which was nice smokin

When I had a 33 I always got a wave back from other 33 owners, and I think generally waving at people in the same model as you are driving gives you the best chance of a wave back.
Mind you, one grumpy git I used to see once a week and I always waved but he never waved back despite him having another 166.

I have the same experience. Old Alfas, 166 owners, V6 156 owners and most GTV / spider / GT owners seem to get it. I don't even bother with 147s now.

The traditional gesture is to wave toolboxes.

wink

Old Alfa drivers always wave to each other. I guess some drivers of newer Alfas are not aware of the tradition.

I always wave!... Wife think I am bonkers, but she has had more waves than me! furious

I think that the newer car drivers (ie, MiTo, GT, 159 etc) are not as aware of the wave, unless they have always had Alfa's. It is only by coming on forums for assistance generally that you learn thses things and Alfa's are better than they have ever been on the reliability stakes. When I can afford a GT I will still be waving!!

In 2 years of owning a lovely late 145 Cloverleaf I had precisely 1 wave, from a fellow 145er frown

I don't flash at anyone, these days, too open to misunderstanding: tends to be the missus that drives ours, anyway, I'd rather people didn't flash at her, tbh...

Perhaps we should arrange an Alfa Wave Meet?

We all meet up at a specified location - and drive up and down that road randomly for an hour or 2; and wave at each other as we go.

Jobs a good 'un thumbup
