The Alfa wave?

It's almost a dying tradition so I'm glad to hear a Giulia driver waved - must be an AROC member
I still wave at any Alfa I see but am usually ignored. But, a couple of weeks ago a GT driver waved at me first...made my day!

I waved at a Giuletta on Saturday, but they didn't wave back. I had to explain the Alfa Wave to my girlfriend who thought I was nuts.I still wave at any Alfa I see but am usually ignored. But, a couple of weeks ago a GT driver waved at me first...made my day!

I was on the receiving end of an Alfa wave about 6 months ago, and have endeavoured to return the favour whenever I'm in the GTV now.
Giuliettas and Mitos are the least likely to respond in my limited experience. After a couple of days (commuting) I stopped waving at a particular woman in a 159sw as I suspected she either wasn't noticing, or was noticing and was appropriately alarmed / confused
There is a strange joy from receiving a wave back
Slightly off topic, the same exists with the Holdens (Monaros / VXR8s etc.) over here, except it's such a rare occurrence that it can involve anything from headlight flashes, thumbs ups out the (always open) window, an exhaust rev and if on the same stretch of dual carriageway, an almost inevitable exchange of fly bys

Giuliettas never wave here, there's plenty about but nothing. Giuliettas and Mitos are the least likely to respond in my limited experience. When I was a kid my old man had a run of four Alfas (75 Ts, 155 sp, 166 Ts, 156 Ts)
I always remember copies of Auto Italia on the coffee table and when riding shotgun in the 75 & 155 he would always flash and wave at other Alfa owners. 9 times out of 10 they would back.
We are talking early/mid 90's.
I also remember collecting the brochures for as many models as I could find. It was the Alfa brand that got me into anything with an engine when I was young. Its their fault :-)
Times have changed I suppose.

The only recent waves back have been a couple in another Spider heading in the other direction on a dual carriageway, and a chap with a 159 near the office that waved from the top windows of his office building.
Mostly it appears dead. I've almost given up waving at anyone in a MiTo, Giulietta, or 147, as the chance of a wave back is too small.
I still wave though.
