In a motorhome! Seriously?

They'll need more than an assault rifle.

I quite seriously think this is a terrible idea. You might have been able to do this 20years ago but given the way things are in SA at the moment, they're asking for trouble.

You dragged this thread up to say that?

Do you live with your head in the sand?

I did SA, Botswana and Namibia last year in a 4x4. We camped in tents over night and had great fun.

Only had 2 bits of trouble when we had a vehicle fire due to some wires rubbing and shorting out, took 2 days to get a auto electrician to come to us and rewire, and a large hole in a tire. As long as your safe and don't get put off by the crowd that surrounds you when you fill up at gas stations trying to sell you bags of "gems" and begging for cash and bottles of water then you'll be fine.

Sounds like you had a blast. I am taking a bunch of friends from here around SA next year, we have hired 4x4's from Buffalo rentals, each truck comes with two, 2 man roof mounted tents so it promises to be a good giggle, we are doing SA, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia.
