Bit of an odd conclusion, S3 wins most "tests" they do, then they decide its a draw confused
Indeed.
Seems that the SG3 pretty much beats the OneX in all the performance tests and wipes the floor with it in video playback and web page load times. All they could really say in favour of the OneX was that it's cheaper and looks prettier.

Thanks for posting that review. It has made my mind up to wait for the GS3 over the One X.

Does the SGS3 have a removeable battery aswell?? That's gonna make my mind up!

Yes. If the battery life is not good enough I'll get a spare for if I'm not going to be somewhere that charging isn't an option.

Quote from GSMArena article ...
HTC One X over Samsung Galaxy S III

Impressive polycarbonate unibody
Brighter IPS LCD2 screen with a full set of subpixels
Beats Audio
Already on the market
Likely a bit cheaper

Samsung Galaxy S III over HTC One X

Bigger screen - 4.8" over 4.7"
Higher display contrast and better sunlight legibility
More storage options - 16/32/64GB + microSD over non-expandable 32GB
S Voice natural language commands and dictation
S Beam for easy and fast file transfers
User-accessible 2100mAh battery over non-removable 1800mAh battery
1.9MP front-facing camera with Smart Stay

I ordered mine today. I went for White 16GB, although i may change that to Blue. I'm not really taken by either of the colours. What is wrong with offering a normal grey or black?

Believe it or not, I think its actually something to do with the patent business, one of the patents apple holds is for the black colour.

^ Note that patent case has been dropped this week. Nevertheless I think its bloody daft that you could patent a black rectangle..

The entire US Patent System needs putting down and starting from scratch. The fact they allow such broad patents proves it is broken.

The S3 looks really nice and I hope that a lot of the features will be hacked onto the S2. My contract is up next year so maybe the S4 will be out with a holographic display, a pico projector and a 3d printer built in... jester

Having had a white iphone for a year now...white is a pain! All the cases get grubby, the tinest bit of dirt shows up in the gaps in the frame....even along the edge of the screen saver.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger at the end of the month. My only gripe was that the S3 does not have a 12MP camera like the Sony.

A bit long winded but good product description here at the un-boxing ceremony sealed it for me.

pixel count on cameras means nothing nowadays, its all about the size of the sensor.

Eh? How does that work?

Or more accurately pixel density - more pixels/ smaller sensor = more image noise!

So it is possible for a new desgined 8mp camera to be better than a last generation 12mp camera?

The reason I ask if because I cannot personally see the benefit in going high than 8mp as I am unlikely to blow up any picture to higher than A4 sized for printing.. BUT, the higher numbers seem to grab my attention hehe

Yep - not really much point going higher than 5-8mp on a cameraphone IMHO - quality's more limited by the tiny sensors and lenses involved in such a tight package... you'd only be blowing up 'crap' pixels with higher numbers anyway if that makes sense!

Ah, that works completely differently than with CCTV imagers. Although in CCTV we tend to use CCD (Charge Coupled Device) over the cheaper CMOS sensors which you find in nasty Chinese cameras. On phones and high-end still cameras, they use CMOS sensors - go figure. If I wasn't completely confused before.. I am now laugh

Thanks for the info, I'm going to see if there are any comparisons.. I really want the S3 and so far I am still convincing myself of reasons TO buy it which wasn't the plan wink

Yes absolutely.
I've got a Canon 7D, the camera body alone is about £1k. If you use it correctly you can take amazing photographs with it (visit the photography section).
However the image quality is nowhere near a full frame camera, for the simple reason that the sensor in a full frame camera is physically bigger. You could probably take a full frame camera 2 or 3 years older and still get better IQ.

If we were talking about 3mp vs 5mp then I might agree, but anything at 8 or above would benefit from a larger sensor / higher quality optics.

Given that the vast majority of cameraphone pictures only end up on facebook at 400px wide anyway makes it all a bit of a waste of time smile

BTW in case you missed it T-Mobile revealed pricing today: http://www.androidcentral.com/t-mobile-uk-reveals-...

Edit, some more links.
Another review, nothing new but I thought the blue one looks rather smart in the pictures: http://mobile-review.com/review/samsung-galaxy-s3-...

Battery test vs the HOX, predictably the S3 does rather well: http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-batt...
