got that only yesterday but thanks. been on the mini forums and it seems to be correct and maybe one of the original heads before pinion bought the rights.

The rights for this head was acquired by John Mackay (not sure if I spelled his name right) from Jonspeed. I went with him to test the first one built at Curborough sprint track. We sent about 6 or 8 to Japan in about 1990 if I remember rightly. They suffered from porosity like a lot of these aftermarket castings did.
I'm not sure how far John carried on with the project, as I think it consumed a load of dough.

Slightly off topic but was looking at a mini with a home cast twin cam head at Harewood Hillclimb weekend before last..

That's the one Richy, looks a bit tired but yes a nice piece of work. Was looking at it trying to work out if it was an MGA twin cam head or modded Jag or something as the cam covers look so professional. Got talking to the owner/builder sitting quietly in the corner and found out it was home build!
Amazing what some people can do with a bit of inginuity and I guess access to a few specialist tools etc
