^^ hehe ^^

It's rare, but not that rare.

Any idea how many made it over Roger? I can think of three straight off the top of my head.

I know to five, the two MOCGB/S197 regulars & one Bill Shepherd Mustang had for sale a couple of years back in dark blue with satin black stripes which I missed by a smidgen then went missing, there's a red with black stripe kit in deepest South Wales belongs to a business acquaintance & likewise a Kona Blue in York, there must be more as these cars dont come here via the regular route

Just been offered a 2009 605BHP one in grey with anthracite wheels and Kenwood stereo/sat nav if you're intersted.

It's another one I hadn't heard of before.

That's what I asked him. It's a one owner car that he brought in himself. Originally purchased in Ontario before being shipped off for the SS conversion.

From experience a 06 GT auto will take the Tuscan off the line due to the better traction and will be ahead up to around the 200ft point (assuming of course that it has the same suspension mods and ~15bhp remap (~315hp and around 1650kg with driver), and a crew chief that knows how to set the Mustang up that I do) and after that the Tuscan will start to creep away (as you say the advantageous power/weight) running in the low 13.2** area, the GT with the same mods as me running a 13.63. Though the tuscan has a couple of handycaps on the strip, one is the manual gearbox and two the car is not setup with the 1/4 mile in mind.

I would expect a bog stock GT500 to be well into the 12’s and a GT500SS to be into the 11’s provided the driver knows what they are doing with the manual transmission.

PC you really surprise me. A Tuscan runs 320-340 bhp and weighs in at sub 1200kg with driver. If suspension settings are correct there should not really be any traction issues to worry about. I would expect a Tuscan to be in the 12s as standard.

Traction on a drag strip isn't as simple as that, there are lots of things to take into account such as; the amount of anti-squat built into the rear, whether or not it has IRS or SRA, tyre pressures, burnout or not, wheelspeed off the line (not wheelspin - thats bad).

It isn't a simple case of power/weight with getting a car to go quick down the drag strip. The way the car reacts to weight transfer has to be considered (anti-squat), as do the gear ratios, I know a Tuscan has a relatively high top speed but a Tremec T5 5 speed gearbox? are these gears evenly spaced? because I have four closely spaced gears in my 'Stang and a long overdrive, which helps. On a drag strip a manual gearbox is also a disadvantage. I dare say on the right day with the right settings it would be in the 12's and comfortably so. It has taken me and my crew cheif around 15 runs to get my car into the 13.6s bracket smile

These are the stats from a 54 plate Tuscan that was there when I was:

http://www.yorkdragway.org/results.pl?date=2012-05...

(n.b. if the 60ft time is over 3 seconds then it is the 0-60 time as the car was in the right hand lane)

For reference I have now run a 13.63@100.65mph (car D192).

They clearly show the power to weight advantage with the high terminal speeds, its 1/8 mile times are, looking at my fastest run from the 4th of June, almost as quick or as quick as mine. The Tuscan then makes up significant ground in the last 1/8th, my 60ft times are around 0.1 to 0.2 seconds quicker than his which no doubt helps.

For reference mine is a regular GT500, it has a smaller S/C pulley & a re-tune, maybe 560 hp, it ran a 12.1 @ 118 on Saturday at Santa Pod on 30 profile street tyres. I have seen figures for a 725hp SS on slicks hitting 10.87 at over 130. However as stated , ultimately it comes down to the driver...
