Hi all

I bought a 6 year old 997 from a dealer, and while the car is fine, the paintwork is swirly and marred.

I'd like to get it professionally sorted out so it looks its best, plus a general all round proper detailing.

Can anybody recommend a good detailer in the South East (I'm in Surrey but near Hampshire/Berkshire too)?

Thanks!

Justin from gleam keen comes up on these forums with an excellent rep. He is now exclusive car care and did offer 10% discount for PHers. When he did my cars, he gave me a fixed quote and stuck to it, even though he spent another half day finishing off. http://www.gleamingkleen.co.uk/

A man of few words but a god in the detailing world IMHO thumbup

I've always had great service from Miracle Detail. He is based near Guildford.

Here's some evidence of his work - http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t...

Cheers

So much choice; who will you choose? There's only one way to find out....... getmecoat

Actually, I think you should do us all a favour to find out once and for all who is the best and ask each to do one side/front/back of the car and let us know who's was best, a sort of 'detail off!'

The winner gets the cudos and adulation (and business) of SE PHers and gets to do your whole car. biggrin

Good luck! And don't forget the before & afters!

KDS Keltec in Gillingham

I've just had my 911 done and posted some photos on this thread:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

KDS have also done my Ferrari and Jaguar and the quality of their work is superb. Kelly runs courses for detailers who want to learn from him

They recently repainted and detailed an Enzo owned by a well known independent Ferrari / Maserati / Lambo sales & service centre owner, and when you see that Aventadors, Veyrons, and exotics are looked after by KDS it speaks volumes. Unbeatable value for money too

I've seen quite a lot of examples of the work from the man at Miracle Detail on Dunsfold Park, he really is fanatical about what he does, and the finish he produces is remarkable as the photographs of Stefan1's CGT illustrate, and added to that he seems a jolly nice bloke.

Certainly as age creeps on and I get more in-firmed, then he will be my default choice, but right now, retired with some time on my hands, detailing my own cars is fine exercise and helps with my reducing waist-line project !

That kind of happened a couple of weeks ago at WaxStock - a car show for detailers.

The speed detailing competition was won by a guy that Kelly at KDS Keltec had trained. The main show car was a yellow Aventador, recently fully prepared by Kelly. And he was one of the judges for the concourse competition.

I admit, he's a friend of mine now, but only off the back of seeing what he did to my car a couple of years ago smile

From what I have seen KDS is top drawer. Some other celebrity detailers aren't that interested in ordinary cars like M3's and standard 911's. They would rather do Veyrons and CGT's.

I once had a brand new car detailed by a certain celebrity detailer(at least tried to). Fours hours in he was still taking photos then told me the paint was st and i should reject it, however he could sort it out over a 3 days detail at his premises, can i have the keys. Got to dash now as a customers bentley just has a bird poo on it and it must be removed within 90 minutes.

He believes his own BS/hype. The good guys don't constantly bang on about how good they are.

The one thing I will say about detailers that I've met - and I'm going to do my best to word this very approriately (!)...

Many are excellent (amazing) with cars. That doesn't necessarily mean they're just as good with the public.

Especially a public that may be used to a certain higher level of service in other industries.

It's no slant on anyone's work, but just an observation and something to bare in mind.

Hee hee - good post, Tony.

I had some excellent work done by Kelly and co. but a less enjoyable experience a few weeks later when I dropped in hoping to buy some bits and get some advice on what to do after 4k miles and all sorts of abuse.

Kelly was ten feet away working on a car and we had an odd ten minutes conversing through a chap sitting between us. "Tell him that I'm really busy, please." "Tell him that he'll have to come back." "Tell him that we've got to get this car done by the end of the day." "Tell him that unless there are prices on things we can't sell them to him." etc.

I'd have been happier if Kelly had said "Sorry, really busy - could I call you later?"

Felt a bit unusual, as did not being able to buy anything because no-one knew how much things were supposed to cost.

My car looks great, though biggrin

(Hope the other car went out lovely and shiny, Kelly.)

Yes, absolutely - I needed the car done in time to drive it to Poland and Kelly and Paul were very obliging. Nice chaps.

Just a shame that the most recent part of the seeing the fastidious Kent crowd was the bit that wasn't as nice as it could have been. It's the end of a process that sticks in your memory. (A grubby car that finished with free ice-cream might feel better, but I'm not sure KDS would do as well if that were what they offered, though biggrin)
