I have been using the performance friction 378mm discs front and back for 2 years now and they are by far the best that my friends and i have tried. We have used both performance friction and pagid pads and they are both good. The best package i have seen is a kit that uses the ap calipers and performance friction discs and is made in germany.

OE BMW discs & pads are around £300.

AP front kit is £2,200

Alcon F & R kit is £4k+

Not sure if its the same for AP, but with PF discs, once you buy the initial set you can then replace the disc rotors only (a LOT cheaper)

Have them on my E46 M3 and very happy (PF discs and pads)

It's the same with most big brake kits. AP Racing, Stoptech, Brembo, Alcon are all with 2 piece rotors.

Most CSL drivers use Pagid pads (RS29/14s) I believe with PF discs although many track their car but I think they are denoted as fast road pads.

If anyone is interested, I have an AP BBK for sale that I had on my E39 M5 - I believe they fit on the E46 M3 and M3 CSL as well.

PM me if interested.

Will the PF disks fit the stoptech bells? I have the stoptech BBK and have heard the same that the PF disks are the better option if they can be fitted?

I was wondering the exact same thing but couldn't find an answer anywhere online... I know Performance Friction makes rotors that fit AP Racing kits but have no idea if they do for Stoptech...

On mine they are 355mm and 32mm thick (the same for M3's but there's also a larger kit available) but it's the way that they're mounted on the hats that's the important thing. Number of bolt holes, thickness of mounting screws etc. I emailed Performance Friction about this but havent had a reply yet...

Performance Friction has confirmed by email that they do not make anything that fits the Stoptech mounting holes. I sent them this document (http://www.stoptech.com/docs/technical-specifications/0511-aerorotor-data-sheet?sfvrsn=2) and Charlie from PF replied:

"Thanks for the information, I’m afraid we don’t have anything that will fit the bolt circle diameter (213.0mm)"

That said the Stoptech rotors are pretty good themselves and i wouldn't consider them to be the drawback of that particular kit. I'm very happy with my kit but i'm always on the lookout for other options to try!

I've found them for £730 for a set of fronts on www.part-box.com. It's for discs only to replace the factory ones.

Thanks for that, at least we know where we stand now.
As for the stoptech disks, they have been faultless for me over the last three years, but on inspection recently they have perished badly on the 'cooling' fins. This isn't just surface rust either, luckily I have a spare set so will fit them. But do keep an eye open on them as mine looked fine until I took a closer look.
