Official Liverpool FC thread Vol 5 - "Next Year Is Our Year"
Discussion
I could have sworn i read something recently about hiring/firing of managers of the red sox.
Please let me be wrong though!
Edited to add that i have looked through the red sox managers history and am totally wrong on this one, they had the same manager for a large number of years!
Sorry people for the mistake!
Sacking Roy was understandable for the majority, Kenny didnt produce the goods unfortunately but may have been prematurely removed and BR will hopefully be given the time it needs.

They sacked the previous manager, Francona (sp?), even though he'd led them to two World Series titles. Then, they brought in Bobby Valentine who's appointment in retrospect was wholly inappropriate. Please let me be wrong though!
Though he was in large part to blame for the debacle that was the Sox's second half of the season, the owners were also responsible to an extent. For example, they got off on the wrong foot with him straight from the beginning by not allowing him to pick all of his backroom staff. They brought in specialist coaches without telling him and they didn't back Valentie when senior players questioned his training and managing methods.
See a pattern emerging?
Well at least we know BR has a plan B, this was a different style today and seemed more like Liverpool of old right down to the shots on target count of 1 I think.
Too many players didn't man up today, Agger really tried with more runs forward than in quite a while, Sterlings going t o be awesome and he tackles back yay but not so much from the rest sadly.
Sahin lost it a few times in really dangerous places whilst (whisper it) Joe Allen and the words defence splitting pass haven't been mentioned yet.
Overall I'm happy we didn't lose, it was just bad day at the office.

I don't think Gerrard should escape from any criticism either. He's been poor this season and particularly poor today. Several poor passes led to possession being lost, got tackled far too easily trying to take people on, and when he did get tackled he'd just stand there looking up in the sky in frustration.Too many players didn't man up today, Agger really tried with more runs forward than in quite a while, Sterlings going t o be awesome and he tackles back yay but not so much from the rest sadly.

Gerard was poor today, as he gets older this will be thej norm, if we were Barca he could get away with it by having quality around him but I feel for the poor sod it's like Groundhog Day - more crap different season.
Not sure if it came out on tv but stoke sang about Gerard living like a girl obvs based on the programme where he mentioned living with 4 girls (I can't recall the words at the mo)
Left seat watch, 2 yank teens, a dad and his ugly 10 ish yo daughter the yank lads paid £300 for ticket and hotel

They sacked Bobby Valentine, the Red Sox manager last week after only one, albeit terrible, season.
I believe horrific season would be more appropriate!I think they have the second highest payroll and finished Bottom of their 5 team division. 26 games behind the winners their arch rival Yankees.
The equivalent would be Liverpool getting relegated.

Be fair, Glen, Suarez's diving IS a disgrace. Even neutral fans can see it.And sadly, Gareth Bale is beginning to get a reputation for throwing himself to the ground too easily as well. Although this weekend's incidents were both equally trying to win a foul, Suarez's was exacerbated by the fact he actually looked up and begged for a penalty whereas Bale lay there like he'd been shot.
As a caveat so that you know I'm not completely one eyed about the little Uruguayan cheat, the stamp by Huth on him should be punished firmly and having seen a couple of other strong challenges by Huth, Liverpool can be aggrieved that they didn't play against ten men yesterday.
