A quick question to anyone that can help.

I am currently have the mother of all nightmares trying to open the drivers door on my mini. Basically the door mechanism where not put back correctly as they where just "thrown in" Now the drivers door is locked shut with about 1/4" movement and the passenger door is locked open....

How do i disengage the door catch hook allowing me to open the bloody door!!! I have poked prodded shouted at and even tried to charm with sweet nothings but all to no avail..

The door handles are the push button varity on a saloon (small nylon adjustable nubbins on the back)I'v tried to push in the plate with a finger, but i am unsure what exactly needs to move to disengage the catch/hook....

Oh and one more quickie...

I bought a seat rail kit that fits a mini but i am also unsure how to mount it. The old seat was attached to the box section on the front or upright edge as it flipped forward. Now the rail kit i have does not have anyway of mounting to the original holes, so how the hell do i mount it.

oh and a third one,

my car has a single stork on the steering colum, it goes up and down (indicators?) and back and forth (what does this do? dim dip?) if it helps the center dash has two toggle switches and a key hole.

Many many thanks,

Rob

Dim - dip correct
The doors, have you tried the internal fore - aft lever?

Yes i have tried the lever but nothing was very well connected , and i can't see or find a decent exploded diagram of the mechanism, If i could get the door off life would be easier, but climbing through the window and neeling is stressful.....

I hope some one has an obvious answer, anyone?

the easy way is to remove the door card, then reach in and tug the little levers off the latch that attach the handles and lock slider.

you will then be able to hook a looped tie strap (or something) around the door latch twagger and pull it.

the door (should) then open.

its awkward, but dooable

Thats brilliant, thank you, i was not sure if i needed to disengage something as i thought the door lock/loop/hooky thing was on a rachet, if its just spring loaded then thats the answer i needed!!!

Many thanks
