carrying on my carbon obsession I decided to make the plastic bits on the door cards in carbon... so I took moulds of them and thought Id start a little 'How to thread"

dont worry though, Im going to leave the U tube videos to the experts biggrin

prepared the bit to make, covering it in a chemical release agent.

IF these parts are not stupidly difficult to make (the sharp edges and complex angles are worrying me lol) then I will make a small run of these... if however they are a total nightmare then they will be a one off smile

Heat glued the part into some sheet plastic so that I have large overlap for ease of bagging

After another coat of chemical release agent I painted the gel coat

once the Gel coat goes tacky a sealer layer of vinylester resin goes down with tissue glass

Once the sealer layer dried the bulk layer goes down on mass, this will be 4 very resin heavy layers up to 10mm, it has a special compound that means zero shrinkage, i call this the custard layer

finally next day the parts can be removed from the mould and are now ready for the part to be made...

Hopefully at the weekend I will pull the first part from these new moulds and will update this thread acordingly
