On the flea now a 390se FHC.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1990-TVR-TASMIN-390i-SE-FHC-5-SPEED-PAS-ONLY-390i-SE-FHC-KNOWN-TO-EXIST-/280988781381?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item416c3c8b45 I didnt know such a beast existed but it was apparently built to special order. Looks nice but at £9K it should be. If its a one off factory special then the rarity is going to make it worth a few bob , so maybe the price is not too bad? Can anyone enlighten me on this car, I cant afford it but i'm curious to know more about these one off specials smile

Is it the black one? It was a prize in a Lynx(?) deodorant competition. Appeared at the 'Fest a year or two back, I think it was the same sort of money then.

Looks more like a series one (bonnet etc)to me, so am surprised it being a 1990 wedge.....
Should be A-frame then anyway, if trailing arm it cannot be 1990, but no suspension shots.

Hi

I think this car is not what it seams.

Can you all remember in July/August a 350i FHC for sale on F-bay.
The car was built by the factory in 1990 and had a 390 engine, was this colour and had the same wheels. It also has the same bits in the engine compartment in red. The interior was red but needed re-triming. It sold for about 4K I think!

I think this car has had a re-trim and a few badges and a few K added to the price!

But I maybe incorrect!

It sold a few months ago for £2k or so, which was a very good price but this dealer is claiming it's something it's not. It's not a 390SE Fixed head. They never made one of those. It has been mis badged, which means....

redcard .. nono ..

I think I've mentioned before that I have seen a 390SE FHC. I saw it at the TVR Golden Mania event way back in 1997 at Brands Hatch. It was a one off ordered by a lady and at the time was for sale on one of the dealer stands for way more money than I could afford at the time. It had a 3.9 V8 and was painted a greeny yellow vomit colour which did nothing for it. However it did have the 350SE wheels on it and the correct double vent 390SE Bonnet which the ebay one does't have. I can't remember what the colour of the interior was but it wasn't blue. I'll see if I have any photos of it from my wedge porn collection.

It certainly was not blue and festooned in inappropriate labelling. That's not to say it wasn't resprayed to get away from the original vomit colour.

Not true, I met an owner of one circa 1994, who had owned it from new. He said that it was one of 4 made by the factory. it was a light greyish green colour. Now whether the 4 is true or not I don't know but the factory has always made specials (like the 4.3 and 5.0 V8Ss, the 660seac etc etc)

390SE FHC's don't appear in any commonly known literature just owners claiming over the years. TVR clearly made some specials but did the factory put those stickers on that car from new??????

Stand corrected if so etc.... biggrin

Gotta laugh at the "Special Order 390" sticker, that doesn't look like a genuine tvr sticker to me !
The car looks in nice condition but a complete miss match to me !
Plus I prefer convertibles to fhc anyway.

Hi

As I said it was sold on F-bay in July as a 350i and it didn't have those stickers!
Its a dealer trying to pump up the price!

CAVEAT EMPTOR for me this cars all wrong. The body shape and bonnet is wrong for such a late car and it is only rumoured that TVR built cars to this spec. Without solid documentory evidence to prove otherwise You have to assume that It's a 350i FHC with a 390 engine and horrid badges and pay accordingly ( a hell of a lot less than the sticker price).

Hi

AS we know the factory made the 350SE with the 390 engine in it! So thats what likely to have happened here, the made a special order car and put a 390 engine in it!
So in a way it could be a 390 or a 350 but not a SE the dealer is trying to jack up the price with those fake logos!
I wonder if Neil at Race graphics made them?

I remember seeing the yellow one for sale at the Kent TVR dealership at the time - had the ridged S1 bumper as well.

The one I chatted to the owner about had no markings, I commented on how nice a 350 it was until I was corrected!!!!

SELLER / OWNER OF SAID CAR THAT SO MUCH RUBBISH IS BEING TALKED ABOUT BY PEOPLE WHO DONT HAVE PROOF OF WHAT IT IS AND DONT OWN THE CAR :
Just to put my own mind at rest i have just gone through all the paperwork i have with the vehicle and low and behold there is a factory sheet and TVR Factory service sheets + independant TVR garage sales invoice to its second owner all stating 390i SE FHC so you can tell all your buddies in the TVR club that yes a 390i SE FHC does exist and yes in March 1990 this car was ordered by Mrs J A COWAN of Herts in Primrose yellow and she took delivery of her new 390iSE FHC in June 1990 bearing her personal plate *** JAC , So what a bargain i got and although i purchased it in July i sent it immediately to a TVR Specialist to check it from top to toe to rectify any problems and it only landed with me in the Emerald isle this week and boy i just couldnt believe how good it was ..So Top of the morning to you and as they say YOU LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY .... Simon L ( the chap who purchased a brand new Tuscan the day they came out and had to drill holles in the floor the next day to let the water out ) Cracking cars - Bought my first Tasmin in1988 at the age of 17 so pretty well know my TVRs love em really smile)) ( GOT THE ORIGINAL ALLOYS )NO MATTER WHAT DECALS IT HAS THEY ONLY STATE WHAT IT IS AND THAT IS A * SPECIAL ORDER 390i FHC * WHICH IT IS AND WAS ORDERED TO THE SPEC THE LADY WANTED IN 1990 WHEN FHC HAD ALREADY CEASED PRODUCTION !!
ORIGINAL ALLOYS NOW FITTED WITH 4 NEW TYRES AFTER LISTENING TO COMMENTS AND I REALLY THINK IT LOOKS MUCH BETTER , CHEERS SIMONL
