It can 0.98g round a corner, which was more than a lot of supercars of its time.

It was a bargin, but don't be fooled, I'm looking at blowing at the very least twice the purchase price to get it up to scratch.

Maybe, but looking at that list it equals the M3, not beats it.

Great car. Brings back memories of the dark green one a family member had back at the end of the 90's. Not sure if it was like this model but I remember going to Heathrow in it and puking on the back seat. biggrin

I think in an S8 you could probably just drive through the moose anyway.

Did Citroen fit the suspension system to a non sh!t car? Or any PSA group car with it? Such a shame its not used to at least a 200 bhp hot hatch,it would have been great.
It does seem strange, doesn't it!
Probably a combination of it being quite heavy, bulky and complex. Oh and wasn't the Xantia a bit of a make or break car for Citroen? I had one, it was an 8 valve 2.0 and a more gutless and uninspiring thing I've yet to drive. The driving position was fixed at uncomfortable with the pedalbox being directly under the wheel, it was also unreliable and the switchgear a joke....but I liked the looks of it.

Xantia wasn't really make or break, that was the BX. Citroen were already clearing up in the small hatch sector with the ZX, which was tanning everything until the 306 came along (same car, just better looking!).
The important job for the Xantia was to continue the diesel success story of the BX, which is a car that pretty much rewrote the rules in the 80's for it's class/sector. The petrol engines in the Xantia were a bit limp, so in group tests sometimes the Mondeo or Laguna would pip it depending on the mag, but in the diesel tests the 1.9TD models always romped home....until Peugeot spoiled the party again!

Driving position is a bit funny, but switchgear I've never found an issue. Looks....I actually think when it came out it was pretty handsome, certainly when compared to a mk3 Cavalier or a Mondeo. Hasn't aged well though!

True, but the fact it is an older car and about a ton heavier = win!

Great stuff watching with interest. The only car in the last century or so of motoring that has dared to move away from the basic principles of springs, torsion bars etc. I just hope one day they get recognised as such. As an important a car as the DS IMO.
Not quite the only one... (although Toyota made only 873 cars smile).

They were. Many people get Hydractive and Activa confused. Activa diesels (2.1TD and HDi) were available in LHD though.
