I am interested in learning more about the following. We have been instructed by a major creditor to recover amounts owing. The name does "ring a bell" anybody else know anything about him?

So, you need his last address for a trace? Or did you draw a blank, bank details?

Geez... I remember this character. Was trying to promote record-breakers.com or something similar on here. I questioned the dubiousness of some aspects of the project and in particular why he used two names. Gave me some bull about his mother getting divorced and him using two surnames.

He was going to be outed on Watchdog for that (girl on PH was going to do a blindfold speed attempt) but I'm not sure it got aired in the end. I even got in touch with British Blind Sport or whatever the charity that was going to benefit from the attempt in order to see what they knew of it.

More here:

I also had words with a webmaster of a site he had set up subsequently because he'd put PH logos on there in an attempt to try and endorse the new scam (global-challenge.tv or something similar).

Didn't realise he was behind the Candy Run. Cheeky bugger has leafleted at PH events if I recall correctly.

Just incredible that someone will put this much effort into dishonesty. If he's prepared to work this hard why not just earn an honest living?

The Daily Mirror reports that he's also behind

goldrush2007.co.uk

Do a reverse DNS on that and you'll get some contact details (not his), but it may be a lead.

I have a suspicion that he tried to get tied up with the FB5K boys on a tunnel run. However, I am usually wrong.

He tried to recruit participants from FB5K but fortunately the community are a bit smarter than that. On the promotional event a few of us attended he and his cronies also laid claim to the Tunnel Run, aggressively mouthing off that we (PH/FB5K/Tunnel Runners) had spoilt 'their event' by being reckless and attracting police attention (literally minutes before caning it through Central London at three-figure speeds on a bike).

Ostensibly there was a lot of cash being splashed around. Knowing a little about how a legitimate event might operate, it seemed to be way too much for what they could hope to recover. I'd hazard a guess that he'd charmed and hustled a lot of 'partners' into providing those services without actually dipping into his own pocket too much.

On this occasion I appear to be right! Cheers Gruffs.

Thanks guys. I should point out that we are more than capable of tracking down this individual, and yes we know every trick in the book, and some that aren't.

It was merely to get some background info as my client is heavily involved in the mototrsport industry, and I had a sneeky feeling fellow Pistonheaders may have had some dealings with Mr Knight.

Thank you all for your help, its appreciated.

Let us know the outcome James. There are plenty of people who'd like to know that some justice is served somehow. mad

I've got a contact on Watchdog who might be able to put you in touch with someone there. Let me know if you want me to PM it to you (via the forum I can't access PM's sent to me during the day).

I've had a couple of dealings with him, per the links above, so if you want any more info then feel free to drop me a mail. I know a bit about him, but it's probably best to keep it off a public forum just in case he sends his boys round hehe

Also, another name he went under was Gary Gold.

Will do Ted, but have to say that its probably in our clients best interests (due to the size of the claim) to drop this. Shame I always like to try and equal the balance between shitzers and honest business folk. Maybe next time.

I remember reading something about him and the gold rush and the candy run.

Sad thing is, in the right hands, a candy run could have been great fun. Now noone would touch it with a barge pole.

Oh Fantastic, Mr Gary Knight is gonna get the heavies at his door!

And about time too!

Gary owed me some money (about a grand). I ACTUALLY got my money (plus some interest!) through my own methods... He was promoting Candy Run at Santa Pod, and after lots of "Ooooh yes, I will write you a cheque in a bit Alison", I eventually lost my rag and parked my car directly behind his Aston and refused to move it until I had a cheque. In addition to that, I made him sign an agreement stating that if the cheque didn't clear, that I could sue him for an indefinate and unlimited sum of money for lost of income. Remarkably, the cheque cleared! I had already gone legal (to his dodgy Harley Street address)and he'd failed to reply to the courts by the deadline.

Drastic, but effective don't you think?

He's such a funny little man, who actually comes accross as quite sincere (don't they all?) but the giveaway is the bodyguard/minder that is constantly by his side.

My last words with Mr Knight?

GK: "I'll hand it to you Ali, you are a clever business woman. The Candy Run is for sale if you are interested?"

AS: "Goodbye Gary."

Oooh, and one other snippet of info that may be of use...the cheque was a pre-signed cheque that he gave me, that was in a woman's name, not his. The same cheques were given to others (for smaller amounts), but they didn't clear. I may be able to find out that name from my bank if it's of any use? Email me at alison@rgva.co.uk

Best of luck!
Ali x
