I'd recognize those bucket lampshades anywhere - the inside bar at the FoF! Hope you enjoyed it - I'm out of town right now (Seattle WA) - back on Thurs night - if you're still in the vicinity, I'd be delighted to buy you a couple of Beers on Fire - by way of a welcome. I live on the lake behind that bar, so it's staggering distance for me.
Had lunch there today, really nice, and I don't usually like fish, but the wahoo sandwich was lovely, and it is going to be a very convenient stopping off point before heading to the airport next week.

Thanks for the car hire recommendations. Ended up going with holiday autos. Roll on Monday! Looking forward to it!

Cheers,

Missed you - I got pretty wkered there on Thursday night - I thoroughly recommend the "Dancing Pig" for your pre-flight luncheon - it's a pulled pork po'boy and is a signature sarnie at the Foffer.

For Car Hire in the USA i always use www.usrentacar.com they are based here in the UK and are really good. I have been using them for 10 years and never had a problem They have access to all the hire companies and offer the best deals. I recommend the "gold package" so you don't have to worry about extra costs.

Thanks bud. beer

It is only £632 to hire a Mustang for 23 days in August from Miami airport and dropping off at LA airport. That works out about £500 cheaper than the best quote I could find.

I threw caution to the winds and went for the platinum package this trip, as I had tyre damage last time, but luckily had paid for the extra cover inadvertently on arrival!

We've just started going through our photos of the holiday - been a bit nonstop with work since getting back, holiday feels a long way in the past......but I did cheer myself up by making kickass pulled pork this weekend. Came upon this photo and wanted to check if you got it from behind the bar Matt - I should have said before!

Wait, what? I have mail down at the pub? Is there money in it? Better get my ass down there pronto!
Oh, hang-on, I'm on a flight to Philadelphia - I'll collect it on Wednesday (there'd better be money in it).

Tried it, liked it! That place is very convenient for the airport, the happy hour prices were good, and it's got wifi. Next time I'm back in Orlando I will be heading there on a Thursday night for the music jam. Look out for a bald fat drummer!

What started off as a pretty miserable afternoon down at the boozer was transformed for me this evening. As I sat watching my NFL team getting their asses kicked by the frickin' Dolphins - and then having to endure the local rednecks cheering, as a result of the monumental chain-reaction accident at Talledega I was on the point of heading home when Jay, the landlord, handed me an envelope, addressed to me from PH'er Goa'uld.
What a wonderful, unexpected and very, very classy surprise. I was kidding when I said there'd better be money in it. Seamus left me a ten-spot, to buy a beer, for the bar recommendation - not necessary, but HUGELY appreciated - what a gent.
Next time, the beers are on me, Sir. You made my day!

Hi Matt,

On your recommendation took a trip out to Playalinda beach today. We loved it! So thanks!

Heading to Sanibel later in the week! smile

I've yet to make it to FoF but I suspect you could be drinking on the pistonheads tab for a while!

Cheers,
C

I'm really pleased that you enjoyed it. Sanibel is very different, but I'm sure you will love it. My favorite part of the island is North Captiva on the north side of "Charley's Pass", where Hurricane Charley cut the island in two, back in 2004 on it's way over to Orlando, where it conveniently tore the roof off my house and destroyed my pool enclosure...

I popped into FoF for lunch a couple of hours back. Decent food and very reasonably priced! smile

Couldn't drink as I'm on driving duties. frown

Our pool enclosure was in the living room and the sofa was in the pool after that night!!

Neighbours both sides got nothing. You could see the trail of destruction where it went over our place, over the lake and continued through the wooded area at the back.

That would be the one that knocked down the Pool Enclosure of the Rented Villa the last time the whole family went!! We were a little bit out on that one.

Looking at Hertz as they have the Mustang Coupe available. Only fly in the ointment is that they seem to have something "Similar" on the list. As I don't want to fork out if you don't get a Mustang anybody know what the "Similar" is?

I booked a Mustang from Hertz direct and it states "Reserve this exact model" on the quote. SSAR is the code.
