Car related items you want to give away.
Discussion
I think this thread could have a bit of mileage.
Basically a thread to offer car related items/bits/parts which you wish to give away, IE free, so it's not a selling thread.
You know, the sort of things which you'll never get around to using, aren't worth the faff of eBay'ing, but which seem too good to take to the tip.
The sort of thing which others may think 'I like that' or 'I could really use that'.
Simply state the item, a pic if easy, and your rough location.
I thought about this when I saw a book that I'd got for Christmas, which is of no interest to me. So on that note, my rather lacklustre first offering to the thread (NG20)

I have new and unused:
A set of discs for a 1.6 alfa 147or 156 (pre facelift, ie smaller diameter)
An Alfa 156 cv joint (1.6 and 1.8)
I painted the disc hubs before fitting (realising they were too small) and I scrapped the car before fixing the clicking joint.
There's probably a ton of other bits and bobs but they spring to mind.
See what I mean guys, that's got to be a £50 freebee. This could be the PH equivalent to Freecycle, except with more trusted members. By the same note I'm sure I'll have some bits, except the house is mid renovation and I haven't the faintest where anything is A set of discs for a 1.6 alfa 147or 156 (pre facelift, ie smaller diameter)

I have one other actually. A brand new unopened Burago 1:18 British Racing Green E-Type Jag. The eBay ad showed a silver blue pic (my favourite E colour) and buried in the ad it said 'may be silver/red/green. Raised the issue, and for what ever reason the retailer refunded before I returned (as I'd not got around to it for ages)
Cost me £32, and just sat here as I don't like BRG, and have since bought a silver blue model.

Nice idea
I’ve got most evo magazines from issue # 40 to current available. Want to keep some including ECOTY, but most are available
Pick up from midlands.

Ah OK, a bit far. I'll not commit as it could become something I'll never get around to. Mind, I'll PM if going down the M1 to Sarah's olds in London, are you far off the M1?
Not too far, about 10mins from j18Message me if interested ??
OK. I'm going to persevere for a bit. I really think this could be such a valuable thread. FREE STUFF, what's not to like?! Already some great offers, if not plentiful.
I thought, having seen a list of Renault owners thread. Would it be better as a thread format where members add items as they become free, and remove when/if someone's adopted them? Maybe list split by regions?

All stuff that people never want to buy unless you post it, which is just more hassle than it's worth. I'm in the Bath area, if anyone wants to make room in my garage.
This is the idea entirely. One I had a while back, a wing mirror for a 2003 Kangoo, which I sold last year before fitting it. It cost me £30, but why would I want to eBay it, get 99p, and probably a none received case opened. Would have been worth £40 to the right person, I chucked it. Anyone any thoughts on if a directory system would be easier than having to scroll through posts?

I think the only issue with this topic is the way items are to be tracked as sold, who to etc. I can see this having hundreds of replies (probably doubled with people confirming availability)
What the previous poster raised regarding restarting the topic as a Wiki sounds like a good way to avoid this perhaps?
This is pretty much what I thought. If it grew to a workable/ useful size then there'd be a lot of posts to trawl though. Someone sees something they could home, then has to trawl through another 10 pages to see if anyone's taken it. They ask to have it, to be told someone else has, as they missed that one post! I saw the Wiki suggestion, and having no clue how Wiki works I wasn't sure if a serious comment. Could anyone with any more knowledge interject and offer ideas/ do any required leg work?
I also think breaking down by areas shall massively help. Not county by county, but say for EG 'East Midlands' 'Home Counties' etc.

I am unsure of how it works myself but I’m not talking about an external wiki page, it’s one of the options when starting a new thread. I had a look but being on mobile it didn’t look too different I saw the Wiki suggestion, and having no clue how Wiki works I wasn't sure if a serious comment. What heading do we need?

Anything else? Do we want one for 'interested parties' or some other heading?
Put them here, agree what we want and I'll set the Wiki up for you.

Maybe 'free car related items to collect from Pistonheaders' ? If you can think of anything more concise then feel free.
I'm not sure that 'interested parties' is required, should it not be first come first served?
Maybe in the item section have a reasonable amount of space, as some items shall need describing, and some may have multiple items?
I can't think of anything else right now, but others can feel free to interject.

Here in General Gassing - might need a MOD to sticky it at the top though (if they are willing to do so.....)
That's brilliant, thanks. If you could please delete the book photo though, it's probably the crappiest offering of the lot, a little bit of a joke offer, and it's dominating the page Mods - could you please do one of those 'redirecting to here' thingies, and a sticky would be great, as I think this one could really run and run.
Thanks again!
