Supporting Essex engine in transit
Discussion
I’m hoping to collect my rebuilt Essex in a couple of weeks. I’ll be hiring a van and should be able to lift it out with an engine crane. Is there a steel frame/cradle available to support the engine in transit? I’ve seen them for a cross flow/four cylinder engine size but the Essex is a lot heavier.
Thanks

Thanks for the ideas, hadn’t considered a wood frame, or a tyre! My current engine is still in the car (Marcos rather than TVR actually) and still usable. The engine builder will let me know when the replacement engine is basically built, then I’ll send down my carb and dizzy for modification, plus a few other ancillaries, then bench run and dyno before I pick it up.
…and yes it’s looking nicely painted!
