I have been running my 2016 Fiesta ST MK7.5 daily for the past 3 years and have just ordered a new car for daily duties so i will be turning the Fiesta ST in to a track car and will look to get this all done and on track for the mid / late part of this year .

This is how the car was when i got it in 2016 .

I have all ready done a few bits to the car but will look to upgrade the drive train , suspension , cooling and braking system before i get the car on its first track day .

I have had it from 0 miles so you are correct i know the full history of the car and will be a good base to start from .

Not many week points apart from the brakes but i have a plan for that .

Regards

Good idea for a project, especially a car you know so well already.

What might be an idea is to track it before you touch it, then you know the weakest areas.

They do go well from stock and after a few upgrades go even better .

Sounds like a great project! I was out with a couple of mates for a run on Sunday in my Cayman. One of the guys had a Nissan GTR and the other had a modified Fiesta ST. The ST held its own incredibly. Massively impressive things, especially with some performance mods. His had an LSD in it and seemed to put down power fantastically well.

Yes have seen a few of his vids and he had a ST170 Focus before that i think .

I have a bit of a plan and have done a fair bit of reading / speaking to people about the ST .

OP, have you seen any of Spark Plug Steve's YouTube vids?

He's done a fair few mods on 2 Fiesta ST's he bought as Cat d's I think.

One he uses as his daily, the other on track.

At the same time i changed the intake system and after doing some reading the best gains to be had are from the ITG induction kit even tho it does add a fair bit of noise that im not a fan of

All installed

And to finish off the intake system i wrapped the cross over pipe with heat reflect tape as this sits just over the turbo and does heat soak and gets warm to the touch so this should help out on a hot track day .

The Ram air is bigger and does flow better but i did this along with other bits .

I will not look to strip the car just a rear roll cage and they are only 1160 Kg so not that heavy .

nice, looking forward to seeing updates.

did the Ram Air Crossover pipe make any difference?

how much weight do you reckon you can strip from the car?

Its a late 2016 and there were no recalls for my one and i think it is just with a build date between 2013 and 2014 and with a vehicle ID number between WF0AXXWPMACS52904 and WF0UXXWPGUEA27692

I can't tell properly from the pic but it looks like you have the old cooling system (the ones thats being replaced by the recalls) . Its a 16 plate so the lower pipes look okay, but its the old expansion tank with the thin plastic pipe comming of the top of the overflow. If you are tracking it I'd have that replaced by the fixed version as the engine will be running hot/under more load. Sudden coolant loss under track conditions would be catastrophic to the engine.

Looking good so far though, did you get it mapped yet? The CP2 map from Collins is not too agressive and works well with the ITG and exhaust mods. Perhaps a stage 2 cooler too for a track car.

The only other part of the induction system left was the hot side and cold side boost pipes .

I have changed the boost pipes for some Mishimoto large boar ones .

The Hot side pipe is a one part unit so less chance of boost leeks from the two part OEM unit and is much larger at 2.5 inch

The cold side is again larger at 2.5 inch

Installed

The car will not be going on track until its all done so will not matter in what order they get done and the drive train is all ways the most fun part smile

Quite like Fiesta STs and those mods look to be the right way to go, but the first place I would have started for any track car would have been suspension brakes and tyres.

Inlet manifold spacer installed with some extra sealant on the ports just to be on the safe side as I will not be running any auxiliary fuel or meth injection .

No nothing outstanding or due but it is only the early cars that are effected with the problems of a lower plastic coolant pipe not the rubber ones on later cars and that the rubber coolant pipe can rub and split again on later cars .
