Hi Everyone,

I have had a good search on the forum and it returned two hits for the titled specialist, one was in respect of someone having their car restored that seemed quite positive and another was in respect of clutch replacement again was not negative.

I am thinking of using these guys for a Pre Purchase Inspection and trying to find out if they are good, or if anyone had experience with them that could confirm that they are good garage to use.

My initial conversation with AM Seven Oakes was a little awkward in respect of PPI smile

After some research I came across Quantum Works, and having had a conversation the person on the phone appeared to be very knowledgeable and walked me through the whole process, this has not raised any alarm bels and I am leaning toward using them rather than AM dealer, but just thought I would see if anyone else have used them for anything and just to confirm if these are good guys to use.

thanks, and hopefully will be an owner of an AM very soon!

I lived in and near Maidstone for nearly 20years and always struggled to find any who could work on my AM old and new outside the Sevenoaks main dealer.

The nearest two were Rikki Cann and Vantage Engineering nr Horsham, with more within the London orbit like P&L and RSW, though those outfits like many were more heritage oriented.

Typical that the time I leave, a new AM specialist pops up local to where I used to be….

Post a quick google it seems both the owners are ex Pugsley and Lewis. RSW must be happy that it’s not just their mechanics that are jumping ship to start up their own ‘AM specialist’ shops.

Maybe bear in mind, as freely admitted in their website Bio that these guys have cut their teeth more in the heritage stuff. The newer stuff (made this century) is of course more complex, certainly from an electrical systems perspective. I’m sure that all these new outfits springing up to challenge the DAE/BR VH specialist duopoly will learn and many will thrive, but in the meantime remember with non basic stuff you may be paying, at least in some way, for them to gain the needed experience of spannering and diagnosing the newer cars.
Thank you for your response!

I did ask that question re newer models and they did say they are quite knowledgeable and can look after AMs up to 2018 and did note all the things that i researched myself about the car that i am looking at.

I also did look at Pugsley & Lewis but they are slightly further afield from the dealer so may be harder to get dealer to send the car their way rather than have P&L come out to the dealer.

thank you.

Anthony and Jordan at Quantum works are ex-Pugsley & Lewis. Where both there for years. Decided it was time to go it alone.

Very personable and capable.
Noted and thank you, i think if all is well tomorrow i will go with Quantum Works for PPI and report on my experience smile

Hopefully this thread will be of help for someone like me in the future who is searching everywhere for help biggrin

So bit of an update and hopefully will be picked up by those who search for pre purchase inspection.

I have taken the car to get a pre purchase inspection done at quantom works.

Very very and once again very positive experience.

I think this was helped by a willing dealer.

Jordan did the PPi and i had the following:

- 20min thorough walk-around HD video highlighting all the good and the bad.

- detailed list of the walk around in a written format

- hpi check

- and number of followup emails and phone conversations primarily around potential costs and issue that may come as well as general information about the car.

Overall, super professional, helpful and accommodating. I feel like I may have been little dense with him as I have no clue about astons but he was very helpful and explained everything in understandable manner.

And lastly after short wait I am now a proud owner of an Aston, this has been a dream of mine that I didn't think I would ever realise....

Hoping to enjoy the Aston over the summer as we are getting sunnier spell.

Thank you all for feedback on this thread!

Similar to Main dealer but for better inspection in my opinion. Dealer offered two levels basic - which i think was a quick once over visual and comprehensive, their comprehensive was effectively double what QW quoted.

I have called other reputable dealers that were near them and they were slightly more but due to distances that they would have to travel to collect the car etc
