Vanquish S Volante Incoming
Discussion
Just agreed a deal on this lovely Ming Blue Vanquish S Volante.
It's a couple of weeks away from delivery but I've already done loaded the manual to read it
I have a few questions
Not sure it has Android Auto any one used Aston Installations to add it? Any good?
I want a set of nice floor mats made with the Vanquish logo on them. Can't seem to find any one that does it using Google. Any recommendations?
Any one successfully removed silicon from paint work? Previous owner used it to glue the front plate on
Really looking forward to some euro tours in it!

Indeed. I have my eyes out for similar, but <£100K. There's a lovely blue coupe for sale, but it's a coupe...Very rare spec
Lowest I've seen this year is £120k for an odd spec.
There's a couple of non S volantes below £100k
Those seem to be rarer than S at the moment!
Hi Jon
A bad Vantage S experience and expensive mistake with BR encouraged me in to a new McLaren.
I'm on my 3rd now and still have the 675LT spider.
That's a keeper and all 3 have been great, despite the internet stories.
I also had a brand new 992 GTS along side the 675 as a GT car.
Biggest POS out of my 64 cars. 11 warranty costs in 18 months. Never buying another Porsche.
So I decided on a V12 to replace the 911.
Aston was the obvious choice

I jumped on it as soon as the email alert hit Friday PM.
Saw it yesterday AM.
The condition spoke for itself.
Deal done.
I've been trying to scratch a V12:itch for over a year.

Defo rare to see this spec reach the ads.
I've tried sending a wants list to dealers but after a few days they seem to forget. How else do you get them before they're advertised?I'm not bothered by the 'S', just the colours inside/out.
I simply set up email alerts on various sites and responded as soon as a suitable car popped up.
Took me over year to find the "right" car though.

Very nice looking car! I ve had my S Volante for about 7 years now and still love it. They are very special vehicles.
Only piece of advice: tape the emergency boot release handle down as soon as you receive the car. It can get partially pulled by luggage moving around. That completely disables the boot s (un)locking mechanism and there s no easy way in to fix it
I appreciate that!Only piece of advice: tape the emergency boot release handle down as soon as you receive the car. It can get partially pulled by luggage moving around. That completely disables the boot s (un)locking mechanism and there s no easy way in to fix it
On the list for pick up day.

Can I push you a bit more on these Mikey as they are my two likely destinations if I'm ever persuaded out of my ageing, yet still loved, manual Vantage S? I'm thinking GT3 or 600LT.I'm on my 3rd now and still have the 675LT spider.

Questions:
1. Have you or would you ever own a McLaren without a warranty? If so, are there adequate McLaren Indys to make this financially viable to someone on a doctor's wage who doesn't spend every penny he earns on cars (wine is expensive, right)?
2. Do you think you were just unlucky with your Porsche? In SCD a lot of people are serial GT3 owners and drive them a lot, and properly. Surely, if the ownership experience were that bad they wouldn't keep on coming back for more.
I've been running a 675 with out warranty for 5 years. No major costs. I exclusively use V Engineer, but they are VERY popular so wait times can be long. I wouldn't touch Thorney with barge pole. I've driven most the McLarens and whilst the 600LT is a great car the sport series does seem to suffer the most issues. Any thing on the P11 platform seems to be a lot more reliable. I'd highly recommend a 650S spider, we did 4 weeks round Norway in ours and covered 21k miles in 18 months. Great sports car, but superb tourer with the cross linked hydraulic suspension (which you don't get on the Sport series or GT) 720 replaced it but I'm not a fan of the looks or stupid folding dash, they also seem to have more issues than P11 cars.
On the Porsche, the 992 was my third Porsche and should have been a dream car. £182k 992.1 GTS C4 Cab with a crazy spec. It was not right from day one and the list only got worse as I used it. I won't bore you with the list but it resulted in 11 visits to the supplying dealer and spending more time with them than me. The dealer kept falling to fix issues and Porsche UK just fobbed me off.
Just to put another nail in the coffin, I took a £70k hit when I sold it. In the 675 owners group there are at least 4 other owners who have returned or sold 992s because of issues, including two GT3s. That's over 7% of an ideal Porsche demographic that had issues. All are multiple super car owners, many have earlier 911s.
IMHO most Porsche GT owners are locked into the deprecation Vs enjoyment dilemma.

Thanks Mikey, Nick and Darren for the excellent advice/information. Problem is V Engineering are a long way from me. Are there any decent McLaren Indys in the midlands/north?

I ship my 675 down to V every year. So does one of the others lads, from Aberdeen, along with his P1.It almost feels like a school re-union with old forum members jumping on this thread

They are worth the effort.
Even with the transport it is still cheaper (and better) than a main dealer.

I sold my V12 Vantage and instantly regretted it. My current Vanquish is wonderful and I can t see myself parting with it but then you see other cars and fancy trying something different. I have a double garage but one half is full of kids electric bikes and mowers. I am trying to work out if you would want to daily drive a McLaren and an Aston through winter out in the countryside or do I keep my daily and end up with too many cars. I know it s not a real world problem.
My answer to that is no.I also live in the country side as well.
Last thing I want is salt and grim constantly pounding the aluminium on the Aston and McLaren.
The s
t weather car is an X5M Ultimate Pack.Picked her up today.
Weather was shocking do placid drive home on the motorway.
She's filthy now so the has suggested we call her "Minging"! I see what she did there!
I've a few questions for the "hive"
1) tyre pressure setting? Nothing in the manual, on the doors or B post!
2) where the manual is strapped in the picture looks to me like some else should also be there are the straps are too long.
3) the panel the manual is strapped to lifted easily and seems to have foam cut outs and supports to hold something else. Any ideas?
4) tow eye is rattling around the boot where does that normally store
Can't wait for a few dry days to get her out and top down
