On an 8+ which still works fine but can no longer run the latest iOS as noted. So it’s time to change…
Have been holding out for the 16 but Amazon are currently selling the 15 pro max for £989 which could be a better bet.
Yes, that’s tempting. I’m going to hold on and see what the 16 offers before deciding though.Have been holding out for the 16 but Amazon are currently selling the 15 pro max for £989 which could be a better bet.
If the rumours are correct the new phones will have improved batteries. That’s a real benefit for me.

I still love my iPhone 12 Mini, which I bought in late 2020. I'm hesitant to upgrade to anything newer due to the larger size of the phones. I'll likely just book it in for a new battery and keep it for another 2-3 years ...
I had one of those and also loved the size. It did everything I wanted but the battery life was awful, it wouldn’t last a full day.
It’s looking like the iPhone 16 will be even bigger than the current models. Sadly not much chance of a mini.

It doesn’t look like the products wowed.

I was ready to pre order a 16 pro yesterday evening. The only option to trade my existing 14 pro was to send it in rather than take it to an Apple Store. I’m reluctant to do this after I tried to trade a perfectly good iPad some years ago and they reviewed the value to zero as apparently it didn’t have enough pixels, bit like We Buy Any Car antics.
I’ll hold on until I can change in store.

That seemed a very "meh" launch.
No new airpod pro, but "coming soon" software. Some colours on the max. No new ultra watch, but at least a thinner watch 10.
A new button on the iphone... wooohooo. But lots of coming soon software.
Seemed a bit too much "coming soon".
I'm on 14 Pro, and think I'll stick until at least some of the "coming soon" has arrived and proves to be working.

Yep.
Although I traded in what I genuinely believed to be a flawless iPad once, for a new one, and they sent it back saying it was worth zero and not the £250 agreed.
No idea what specifically they rejected it for but I just kept it in the end as a car iPad for the kids.
So beware they can be very strict about condition.
That’s exactly what happened to me also with an iPad. Everything worked just fine but from memory I think they reckoned the screen had lost some pixels. The questions about its condition before posting said nothing about the pixels.Although I traded in what I genuinely believed to be a flawless iPad once, for a new one, and they sent it back saying it was worth zero and not the £250 agreed.

I won’t be using that ‘service’ again.

Going to make use of my 13 Pro Max trade in value before it drops off and grab the 16 Pro Max.
Any view on the trade in part of this transaction?
Better to take it into the store in person or is the mail in route ok……my existing handset is immaculate so I really don’t want to get shafted with a WeBuyAnyCar knock down once it’s in their hands.
That’s why I wait to trade in store. I returned an iPad once and they reduced the value to zero without reasonable justification.Any view on the trade in part of this transaction?

I’ve been giving this some thought. I was ready to trade in my 14 Pro for a 16 Pro then I read the comparison below. Mine needs a new battery which I think costs £95 at an Apple Store. The alternative is paying c£650 after trade in for a 16 Pro with a few more bells & whistles that I don’t really want or need. Also I’d need to but a new case and screen protector.
All in all I think I’ll just buy a battery for my 14 Pro.

My youngest daughter has an iPhone 12 and wanted a new phone because "the storage is all used up". Yesterday I managed to persuade her that downloading the 4000+ pictures and videos of her and her friends pulling silly faces to her laptop and deleting them off her phone would be more sensible than buying a £1000 phone that screams "mug me".
Her iPhone 8 which she wanted to upgrade for the same reason is sitting in a draw and has not been switched on for years anyway. So much for wanting to keep the photos.
Plus they all look the same anyway, what's the point?
That’s a bit like saying cars all look the same. I’m not saying that you should update your daughter’s phone but they’ve come on considerably since the 12. Take a look at the comparison tool on the Apple website. Her iPhone 8 which she wanted to upgrade for the same reason is sitting in a draw and has not been switched on for years anyway. I think they give you the option of collecting (on release day) from the store, so I presume they give you a time slot to beat the queue, or having it delivered a few days later. For convenience, I'm happy to wait. I'm not desperate to have it from day one.
I ordered the charging plug, but I suspect any will do just fine.
I don’t think the queues will be too bad this time. The demand for the 16 can be described as at best disappointing for Apple.I ordered the charging plug, but I suspect any will do just fine.
