I’ve been out and about in the E’ I’ve been sorting,
Hugely impressed with the new Distributor,
Made the car so much more responsive, pulls like a train now, great fun in second gear,
The car now behaves like a proper cat,
Done well over a 100 miles on the old girl,
and have fallen back in love , it’s rides so well,
And handles our crappy roads with ease,
Blimey I’ve not owned an E type since 78!
A nice series 1 4.2 Coupe please ,
The view through the screen is just epic
Oh god I’ll have to buy a checked shirt, Chinos
and sone huge tan
brogues
Can’t afford the car however!
Here you go, if you fancy a project Hugely impressed with the new Distributor,

And when ones window shopping one can be picky!
Has to be a series 1 , lovey delicate chrome bumpers and rear plate surround, lights that just blend into the body,
Just dreaming!
But I’d totally forgotten how much fun they are to use,
It’s been 5 years since I last drove one,
and that was a show/trailer car so couldn’t get on it !

A scruffy ratty one with a breathed on motor would be fabulous fun !

(ETA - I haven't yet found a definitive split of how many had the Corvette engine and how many had the Ford engine. As for the lines, they're typical of what Gandini was working on at the time, there's a definite hint of the first Espada prototype and the Jarama which he did the following year, and even touches of the Carabo which emerged in '68)

Haha the last thing I want or need is a project
But I was good to rag the E’ around,
Hopefully the boss will take it away now, and maybe actually use it??
My next mission is the MGA, so that will make a change !
Really can’t see me buying any other old cars any time soon,
Been looking but absolutely nothing is grabbing my attention! Strange but enjoying redecorating our home !
Plus at this time I’d rather have a few quid in savings!

Must admit to having a thing for a E, like you a series 1 f.h.c with a set of triple Webbers with headers would be nice,And when ones window shopping one can be picky!

Keep looking at series 2's but can't get my head around them but do look like better value,a ratty S1 or a nice S2 for the same money.
No car has yet to beat the view down that bonnet along with the toggle switches , for me it brings back the 60's.Simon Dee had a white roadster
along with Dave Clark(Dave Clark five) Tony Blackburn lived in Southampton and saw him many a time in his brand new E,George Best as well,
Yank wise the closest you can get to that would be a C2/C3 Vette i suppose, Here we go again

And cos the sills are seat hight I can actually get in and out without looking to much of a cock!
Been looking at my funds but I’m a tad sort,
Err about 20 grand

Times have changed the last one I had was a 1 and a half
68 coupe paid 725 for it !

On my way home from work Friday evening I had the pleasure of seeing a ratty 1965 Series 1 E-Type FHC join the motorway just behind me. It was a black car with faded paintwork and a scuff and small crease down the drivers side front wing and door. I eased into the inside lane to allow him to pass so I could take a better look. It was fabulous

As a kid growing up in the 60's the E-Type was like something from outer space, and it was such excitement to see one on the road.....and it was my bedroom wall poster car without doubt.....
Until in about 1969/70 I heard my first naughty yank V8 close to the AC factory at Thames Ditton as a passing Cobra was being well and truly spanked........
From that point on, E-Type? What's that

Every boys dream in the 60's and 70's to have ONE!
I like many others have never had the money to afford one?
I went for a job at a Jag place in Hadlow, Kent and his brother was a Mopar man with a Dukes Charger.
We were going to do 'great things' with a new a 'engineering workshop' as he sent everything 'oop norf'!
But the deal didn't work out with the machines and that was my chance of E type heaven, gone forever...

Any colour except black for me...

Then CKL contacted me about setting up an 'in-house' workshop too!
After the failure at Hadlow this was gonna be my future...
Nope, not happening again, the committee said 'NO' so the dream was over boohoo.

I would have worked there for FREE!, but instead I have been unemployed for ten years...

On Saterday i was at Goodwood and there was 2 German registered E Types there, one mint in primrose and the other
in brg, both S 1's, the brg one had a completely different shade of green passenger door and almost every panel had some sort of dent or graze
which some had been rattle canned, guess which one was quicker on the track,
When walking though the classic car park at the Revival it's always the fly splattered ,exhaust stained grubby classics that catch my eye for some reason,
think it takes me back to before they were classics and used hard as daily drivers, just more character than the trailer queens we get now.
Last S 1 fhc 4.2 i had was around 15/16 years ago, paid £8,500 from the son of the first owner ,not that long ago really but still a long way from
the £480 for my first one when i was 19, Now ]being a old git at 71 next month feel i need another one before it's tooo late

Unfortunately he had to sell the company for what ever reasons, really felt for him as it was his baby,
Some years later he started up CKL and hasn't looked back since ,like you said you would almost pay him to work there.
He did look after my D type and C type replica's and wasn't snobbish about them not being the real deal,
Lovely guy always got time to have a chat even though it's all a little out of my league now as most of his customers
are bankers and rock star's with open cheque books.
There's a primrose yellow S3 FHC which lives just round the corner from me that often goes past the house, it sounds epic even at 30mph but looks very different to most E-Types with its Wolfrace alloys. It looks well used too. I'd love a Lightweight replica or a S1 FHC in either white or gunmetal with a contrasting red interior, slightly wider wheels and the obligatory stick on number plate on that long, low bonnet. Rat rod mentioned a few famous owners but John Barry of Bond theme fame owned a '64 FHC in '65, the dolly bord with him is a very young Jane Birkin...

I tend to get a bit 'moist' when looking at older Jags, I was at Gaydon a few weeks ago salivating over the D-Type and the sublime XJ13
There are currently thirteen pages worth of E-Type ads on car&classic, fill your boots chaps...!

Playing with fire yesterday, stuck a cheeky bid on a car online i hadnt been to view, won the b100dy thing, mad dash with the trailer this morning in awful weather to drag it home, pleasantly surprised so far, it runs and has floors, beyond that time will tell. Its a 1949 Olds 88 Futuramic Club Sedan, a thing of beauty and a historically significant car of its time

Cool video by Car and Classic of the Sunday Scramble last week, the Mercury wagon gets a starring role , but even better is them taking the pi55 out of the number of 911s on display

Lee offered me a job to!
But by then I was getting the ache with the whole Jaguar thing !
My last hurrah was the Turner Classic’s Burgundy E’
XK engineering also contacted me after a 1.5 OTS
I’d done ended up there as the owner just couldn’t get the Torsion bars set correctly,
I told him what to do and gave him the diagram
To Nock up the setting jig,
Blimey I’ve done few now !
I was just trying to say there is a lack of specialist engineering shops in Kent and the South fullstop!
When Rovercraft moved shop due to lack of customers, it struggled to find good work.
A perfectly equipped machine shop specialising in V8's here in Kent!
So I went round all the top drawer resto places in the South East and offered them a full shop and engineering services as a package.
Then they could do their own engines and transmissions in house and I would train all and sundry as needed...
No one was interested as they farmed the work out to outside engine rebuilders!
So after a lifetime of six cylinder and V8 engineering expertise it all went 'tits-up'.
The last 10 years of my life was wasted as no one would employ me lol...
Just think how many Jag engines and Rover V8's, we could have built here in Kent?
YEP I know what you are thinking ''who cares''...
